Hello Fellow Listers: Am searching for date of death and burial for the below listed person. Is the Sandusky Soldier's Home still in operation? Here's a transcript of what appears to be a newspaper article - not sure what newspaper - but probably from one from Perry County, Pennsylvania. We think the year could be 1910??? " We are indebted to S. F. STAMBAUGH of Shelby, Ohio, for a copy of the Shelby Daily Globe, of April 17, containing the following. S. F. STAMBAUGH received a telegram Easter morning from J. P. HAYNES, surgeon at the Sandusky soldier's home, stating that James W. DeHEISER had died suddenly in the home. He was a soldier in the Civil War and served in Co. F. 177th Regiment Pennsylvania infantry Volunteers. Mr. DeHEISER came from Juniata and Perry Counties some years ago and had been at the soldier's home for the past 15 years. The funeral service will be held at the soldiers' home and the body will be laid to rest in the cemetery at the home." Thanks in advance for any information or hints on where to search!
