there were also Bowmens in Cumberland County there is a small town called Bowmensdale close to Lisburn John Bowmen came to this country from Switzerland and settled in Lancaster County. He married Martha Herr. She was the daughter of Christian and Fannie (Maynard) Herr. John was in the milling business for fifteen years. They lived two and one half miles from Dillsburg. He died in 1861 and Martha died in 1887. Both are buried in Cochlins Church Cemetery, Cumberland County. They had Christian, John, Abraham, Martha, Francis, Annie, Hettie and Henry.
