March 6, 2002, Duncannon PA Dennis Wilson "Doc" Rhoades, 56, of Mountain Road, Liverpool, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in Stonebridge Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Penn Twp. He was born July 12, 1945 in Liverpool to the late Wilson R and Ethel (Johnson) Rhoades. He retired after 30 years from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation; was a graduate of 1965 Greenwood High School, Millerstown; a member of Liverpool United Methodist Church, head usher and teacher of the men's Sunday school class, Liverpool Ambulance League and the Pennsylvania State Employees Retirement Association; a life member of the Liverpool Fire Company; and enjoyed history, reading, Southern gospel music and hunting. Survivng are his wife of 16 years, Mary Lou Newlin Rhoades; his father- and mother-in-law, Henry S and Evelyn M Newlin of Liverpool; and an aunt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Kirk Rhoades, who died July 7, 2001, a sister, Inez Rhoades, and another sister in infancy. Services were held March 9 in Garman Funeral Home, Liverpool. Burial was in Liverpool Union Cemetery. She was born March 20, 1917 in Honey Grove to the late William and Margaret (Hess) Arnold. She retired as a seamstress from the former Hesteco Dres & Sportswear Manufacturing Company, Hummelstown; had designed clothing for Mary Sachs of Harrisburg; and was a former horse trainer; attended Bucknell University, Lewisburg; and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Hershey, and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 265. She was the widow of Lester J. Riffle, who died Sept. 20, 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Jerri P. Fry and Linda J. Riffle Miller, both of Hummelstown; two sons, James L. Evans of Jacksonville, Fla., and Daniel L. Evans of Richlands, Va.; six grandchildren, John M. Brenner of Lititz, Kelly Brenner of Hershey, Kelsey Evans of Washington, and Nicholas Evans, Jessica Evans and Joshua Evans, all of Richlands, Va.; four stepgrandchildren, Rosann Gallaher of Hershey, Dorothy Schultz of Manheim, Brian Fry of Mt. Joy and Gene Hamilton of New Jersey; three great-grandchildren, Ashley Leed of El Paso, Texas, and Shaum M. Brenner and Christopher A. Brenner, both of Hershey; a great-great-grandson, Shaun M. Brenner II of Hershey; and several stepgreat-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, Feb. 7 in her church with the Rev. Msgr. Leo N. Bierster officiating. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery, West Hanover Twp, (Dauphin Co, PA). Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Hummelstown, handled arrangements. WELDON, Anna R (REED); 91; d. Feb 10, 2002, Camp Hill PA Anna R. Weldon, 91, of S. Carlisle Street, New Bloomfield, formerly of Duncannon, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002 in Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. She was born Dec. 12, 1910 in Wheatfield Twp. to the late William A. Sr. and Bertha (Shirk) Reed. She was a retired employee of Polyclinic Hospital; a member of the Duncannon High School Alumni Association, Duncannon Golden Age Club and Dellville United Methodist Church; and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She was the widow of Russell E. Weldon. Surviving are a son, Myron G. of Duncannon; a daughter, Nancy J. Tressler of New Bloomfiled; a brother, William Reed Jr. of Duncannon, four sisters, Bertha Barrick and Alma Finkenbinder, both of Duncannon, Hester Shaffer of Mount Pleasant Mills and Erma Knuth of Duncannon RR 4; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Fay A. Weldon and a son, Robert L. Weldon. Services were held Feb. 13 in her church with the Rev. Robert Stump and pastor James God officiating. Burial was in Snyder's Cemetery, New Bloomfield RR1. Smith Funeral Home, Duncannon handled arrangements.
