Dear Marcia, The 1820 census show that the Bowmans were plentiful in the Halifax and Dauphin area. There was Abraham, George, Jacob, John and Sarah. The Perry Historians checked all their early church records for Dauphin County but did not find a John Bowman born 12 Mar 1813. They did not have access to Dauphin County census before 1850. The Historical Society of Dauphin County do not carry census records.
