I'll let you know what I find. Thank-you for all of the information. There is a Cumberland County Historical Society. The Hamilton Library in Carlisle does research for a $50 fee for each family researched. They are listing all of these related family names with family files there. I might spring for it, but I would rather wait until my next vacation and then spend some time there. I'm a little surprised that there is so little information on this family. Maybe they had all girls or they were not historically significant, but there should be some record of them, since there were not that many souls living in the area at the time. According to another family researcher, William Evans was a Colonel, not a private? There is a mention of a Colonel Evans on the old Chester County Website. He was in the Revolutionary War. He collected fees, etc from people that they considered unsympathetic to the cause. I could not find a will for a William Evans for that date (or anything close) in Franklin or Cumberland County. Perhaps he died in Mifflin or Centre. I do not have the will abstracts for those counties. > > I did find this in my notes which may provide more clues: > Cumberland county Will Abstracts, F. Edward Wright > THOMAS, WILLIAM, yeoman.
