Copies of the few Presbyterian records that exist are usually found at the county historical societies and state wide at the Presbyterian Historical Society in Philadelphia. You can check out their address on Cyndi's list.com. > > Where were they in 1850? I have most of my Stewart materials filed by counties. Were there any other Stewarts in the neighborhood? Joseph & Margaret Stewart were in Yellow Springs Township, Des Moines County, Iowa in 1850. They were in Missouri in 1851-1854, then were in Kansas, nearly present-day Manhattan & Fort Riley from 1854 to 1870. In 1870 they moved to Cowley county KS. The 1850 census shows Sarah Nelson & Nancy Nelson, in their late 30s, and Robert Nelson, age 19, living in the Stewart household. I assume they are related, but I don't know how. (Margaret was 26 at the time.) I do not know of any other Stewarts near them in Iowa or northern Kansas. There were other Stewarts near them in Cowley, but I do not know of any relationship between them. > > There was a Presbyterian minister names Rev John Dickey.
