No one has mentioned that there were Quaker meetings in Columbia County...in that part of Columbia that is adjacent to Schuylkill & Northumberland Cos. Roaring Creek area had a Quaker meeting. I have gr-gr grandfather (Simon Light) who was from Wheatfield Twp., Perry Co. Around 1845 he went to Dauphin Co. and by 1850 was in Schuylkill Co. He is considered to be the founder around 1852 of what was a UB Church in Valley View. The UB's united at some point with the United Methodists. "His" church is now St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Valley View. He got his early UB training in Perry Co. Some family members belonged to Snyder's Church in Perry Co. In some instances I noticed the the term "meeting" was used. But in my opinion this was not meant to be a Quaker meeting. I have never been able to find any Quaker meeting connection for Simon Light. The UB"s tended to have what were called "camp meetings". These were held usually outdoors in the summer. Some are still in existence. Perhaps this will help give you a different perspective on your searching. Peggy Lyte Tyrrell Searching Light, Lickal, Dickel, Hoffman, Westfall, Ulsh, Allison in Perry Co.
