Peoples Advocate and Press, New Bloomfield Reel 1/17/1923 � 12/28/1927 January 31, 1923 Fannie Kough Kistler >From our Blain correspondent. We are sorry to note the death of Mrs. Fannie Kistler, which occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walker, near Newport, on last Tuesday morning at 8 o�clock, from the effects of a paralytic stroke, with which she was stricken 3 years ago. She had been with her daughter near Newport for about 2 years. When she was first taken ill, she was with her daughter, Mrs. Snyder, at Blain. Fannie Kough Kistler was a daughter of the late Henry and Catharine (Lichtie) Kough, and was born at Landisburg August 2, 1835, died January 23, 1823, aged 87 years, 6 months and 21 days. She was one of a family of six daughters and she was the last living member of her family. Miss Kough was married to Abraham Kistler on September 25, 1859, by the Rev. J. V. Rothrock. Mr. Kistler died in 1889. Mrs. Kistler is survived by the following children: Sara Jane, wife of Jacob Snyder of Blain; Carrie Sheibley, wife of Mac Walker, of Newport; Frank Gearhart Kistler, of Harrisburg; James Iso Kistler, of Newport, and Charles Decker Kistler, of Lancaster. There are 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Kistler was well known at Blain, having lived most of her life after marriage at this place. She was well liked by everybody and she had many friends who regretted to hear of her death. Mrs. Kistler was a faithful and devoted member of the Methodist church from girlhood and she was the oldest living member in point of years and in membership of the Blain Methodist Episcopal Church. Mrs. Kistler was a kind woman and was a good neighbor. The funeral was held on Friday with services conducted in the Blain M. E. Church at 11 o�clock. Her pastor conducted the services, taking his text from Heb. 11:16. �But now they deserve a better country, that is, an heavenly. Wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.� Interment was made in the Methodist cemetery, aside the grave of her deceased husband. The pallbearers were W. H. Sheaffer, H. D. Stoke, C. R. Hench, and D. P. Stoke. Among the relatives were Isor Kistler, Mac Walker, and daughters, Miss Alice and Mrs. Edward Noll, of Newport; Frank G. Kistler and Mrs. Sadie Kistler, of Harrisburg. February 7, 1923 Wednesday Landisburg News. In a recent issue of the Williamsport �Grit,� we were pleased to see the likeness of our friend and neighbor, Mr. A. S. George, also his son and granddaughter, embracing some of their summer boarders�snakes! Mr. George is owner of �the jungles� and if you want to see some real snakes, call on them next summer. Mrs. A. Charles Morrison and wife, of Cumberland county, spent last Friday with his mother, Mrs. Annie Morrison, who is ill. Her daughter, Mrs. Clarence Smee, of Newville, is taking care of her. Mrs. William Foster died Sunday at her home, Oakgrove, Spring township, aged about 70 years from cancer of the stomach, from which she had been suffering for some time. Her maiden name was Jane Crull. She is survived by her husband and the following sons and daughters: Robert, of Carol township; William, of Penn township; Samuel of Millersburg; James, Roy and Norman, of Spring township; Clare�Mrs. Commodore Morrison, Susan�Mrs. David Morrison, both of Tyrone township. Morrison, of Kennedy�s Valley, accidentally shot himself in the foot with a pumpkin ball. The ball passed across the top of his left foot shattering the bones and cutting off the ligaments. After careful examination, Dr. W. T. Morrow advised them to take him to Carlisle Hospital, which his mother did on Monday, accompanied by Raymond Cleland. April 4, 1923 Wednesday Landisburg News. Mrs. Annie Morrison spent a few weeks with her daughter, Mrs. Russell Rice, of Elliotsburg, who has not been so well. Mrs. Arthur Crull, of Kennedy�s Valley, had a very painful accident by hurting her ankle to such an extent that she had to have the doctor, who upon examining it found that several ligaments were torn, which would require her to take the utmost care of it for about six weeks.
