Adjacent to the stone is a bronze flag plaque and flag with inscription of USS and a shield that would incate a federal marker of some sort. Does anyone have any information about what the shield stands for. The person died in 1858. I have no information on this shield and a search of various WEB sites to establish the marker has turned up negative. Does anyone have any information regaarding the background of this marker. Thank you. LTW
