This time I really have found some Shattos I know nothing about and promise not to embarass myself as I did a few days ago by not recognizing my own lineal ancestors. In the 1850 Tyrone Township, Perry County PA census (p. 786) is found one family of Shattos all born in PA: (Ancestry.com image# 16) John ........ 35 Laborer Mary........ 32 Daniel ..... 14 Jonathan . 12 Caroline .. 10 Samuel ... 7 John ....... 1 They live right in the middle of neighboring households of Solomon and Hannah (Dunkelberger) Bernheisel, Jacob and Sarah Bernheisel, William and Elisabeth Foose, and Michael and Sarah Foose, Joseph and Elizabeth Dunkelberger, George and Angeline Shade, John and Catharine Stambaugh, Elisabeth Stambaugh and Harriet Sheibley. All of these other surnames are associated with the Shattos and I've never seen so many clumped together in one place before. Quite a gathering. My problem is, who is this John Shatto and family? I can't link him up to anyone - Shatto or otherwise. Neither this family nor John & Mary show up in the 1860 census. The kids sort of disappear also and some may show up much later in subsequent census reports who I so far have just as "dangling" Shattos. I've tried all combinations on Worldconnect as well. Do any of you know or have an idea who this John Shatto and family might be, who John's parents might be and what relation they might be to any of these neighbors? Regards, Barry Michie
