I am also researching this Daniel MCALLISTER. He died before 7 May 1824 when a citation to settle the estate was issued by the court to the administrators of his estate, Francis Gibson and Frederick Smiley. He left six children: John, Margaret, Daniel, David, Mary Ann & Eliza. Mary Ann & Eliza were under the age of 14 in August of 1827, when the administrators of his estate petitioned the court for an order of sale on his real estate. No information about his wife/widow. Have limited information on some children. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!
I am looking for information on Daniel McAllister/ McAlister or McAlester. He appears in the 1820 census as this: 1820 McAlester, Daniel State: Pennsylvania County: PERRY Locale: RYE Series: M33 Roll: 104 Part: 1 Page: 347 1-1-1-1-1-X Females double line 3-X- 1- 1- X males double line 2 I am looking for his wife's name or any of his children. Or any information on him. I feel he may have died before the 1830 census
Yes, I do have the book in my personal library. Page 179 lists Wm. and Jacob Sheafer from Tyrone as Privates in Captain David Moreland's Company. This is the chapter titled Perry County in the War of 1812. Hope this helps. My immigrant Schneider was Georg Schneider (b. 7/19/1784, Beddlehausen, Siegen-Wittgenstein; d. before 1832, Duncannon). His wife was Anna Augusta Freytag (b. 11/11/1767, Elsoff, Siegen-Wittgenstein) They came to Perry Co. around 1816 with three sons: Georg Jr, Jacob, and my ancestor John Tanner Snyder. Later a daughter Christianne came with her husband, Georg Gelbach -- they are now Gelbaughs and Gilbaughs in Perry Co. Now, I know that Schneiders are common as dirt in Germany, but apparently he came at the urging of his younger brother, John K. Snyder, founder of what is now Snyder United Methodist Church -- of course at that time he was Evangelical United Brethern. I don't know one way or another if Georg and Johannes K. had other brothers, but from the size of families they had then (often with many of the sons named Johann, but called by their second name) it seems possible that there may have been more. So, to make a long story short -- "TOO LATE!" I hear you say -- do you know whether or not these Schneiders came from Siegen-Wittgenstein? I should mention that Siegen-Wittgenstein was assigned to Prussia after the Napoleonic Wars and many residents left then, when most of the remaining feudal laws were eliminated. Thanks! Bill Snyder

She could be something like a Mrs. Charlotte or Catherine L. Baer. I would suggest going through some of the 1930 and 1920 censuses at Ancestry.com to see if you can find someone who fits with those initials.

In the 1850 census of Penn Township (That's where Duncannon is located.) I find this family: 1850 U.S. Census . Pennsylvania . Perry . Penn Dwelling 526 Family 563 George Snyder 62 Germany Catharine 67 Germany John 29 PA Nancy 28 PA Mary 7 PA Catharine J. 4 PA Philip E 1 PA That would make George born circa 1788 and Catharine born circa 1783. As for tying in with Francis, or John George, why not? There can be more than one John in a family, if that's a baptism name.
