    1. RE: [PA-Perry] George B. Sheaffer
    2. Marvin Huggins
    3. I'm responding to the list on this, not because of the name involved but because of the circumstance described. My ggrandfather, Joseph Wesley Huggins, also moved from Perry County, PA, to Kansas with his family in 1879! He settled in Ellsworth County. His brother-in-law named Hetrick also moved there. My other paternal ggrandfather, Irvin Black, moved from Jefferson Co., PA, to the same area in Kansas the same year. Does anyone have information about how these coincidental moves took place? What attracted them to Kansas? Why the moves at that particular time? Was there coordination? How many others did the same thing? Thanks for any thoughts and especially any evidence relating to this! 1. [PA-Perry] Marriage lookup
    2. I am looking for David Powell born abt. 1874 in Perry Co. who married Isabelle Williamson born 1888 in Juniata Co. They were listed on the 1910 Mifflin Co. Lewistown census as neighbors. They got married that year. I think they then moved to Juniata Co. because in 1920 they were on the Juniata Co. Lackawanna Twp. I am looking for their marriage license. I have nothing on David. I would like to find his parents. Jan Storey

    2. Nelson Sulouff
    3. Karen, I found a copy of "The Flickinger Family History" about ten years ago in the Juniata Co. Historical Soc. Library, Mifflintown, Pa. As I recall the book was soft cover, perhaps spiral bound, and produced by photocopying. I forget its date of production but I think it is at least 75 years old. I could be wrong, but I got the impression it was never published commercially. I regret to tell you I think your chances of finding a copy of the Flickinger book for sale are very, very slim. I think your best chance is to advise a firm that searches for out-of-print books that you want to buy a copy, or file your interest with some used (oops, pre-owned) book companies. You can locate such companies by using the Google metasearch at: http://www.google.com On the other hand, if a lookup would help you, you might want to contact the Juniata Co. Historical Soc. via E-mail. The latest address I have, from Jul 2001, is: [email protected] I have some Sulouff & Groninger relatives mentioned in the Flickinger book, but regret I do not have in my files the surnames you list in your message. Good luck, Rev. Nelson R. 1. [PA-Perry] need will probate help :>) please
    2. IT appears that Catherine Moyer was still alive in 1860 living with a son. I really need that will or probate data if there is any. She was in Rye Township area early four doors from son JOHN MYERS. We do know she was alive with several small children when Valentine died in 1823 Dauphin Co PA. I have since found her in several census near JOHN in Perry Co. PA then when older with another male we think was Johns' brother. IS there an index to the wills for Perry Co? Are they assessable to read? Most counties have the wills but not sure if they were indexed. Her death appears to be after 1860. Catherine JONES MOYER dcdd husband was Valentine MOYER Dauphin Co 1823. Thanks for any help. SusiCP

I don't think this is the one I am looking for though. My records (name only from the 1860 census) indicate she would have been 31 in 1860. That would put the birthday of the Mary or Maria Huss at 1829. I wish the earlier census records listed the children by their names instead of just their gender.,

    2. Arlene Gemmill
    3. A couple of days ago I introduced myself to this List with an inquiry re: ROBERT PORTER who d. 1817 in Millerstown, Greenwood Twp. Perry Co. PA and is buried in the Millerstown Memorial Cemtery with a tombstone designating his birthplace as "Red Castle, Ireland". Since that posting I have located Red Castle. It is in County Donegal, on the Inishowen Penninsula, about 5 miles northwest of Derry, and overlooking Lough Foyle. The nearest town is Moville. Co. Donegal is now, of course, part of the Republic of Ireland but ROBERT, a Presbyterian, was born on a sand spit in the northernmost part of the island. ROBERT "ate the sea for breakfast" as they say in that part of the world. cheers, Arlene
