Looking for a lady that in her younger years lived in Newport, Perry county, Pennsylvania and attended Newport High School and graduated from there. Her name could have been Jeanette or Martha Jean. The year span could have been from 1955-1960 that she graduated. She then got married and moved to somewhere in KY. She now has a daughter. I think her married name last name is Ervin. If anybody can help me I would appreciate it as I live in Florida and have a hard time getting up to Pennsylvania.

Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg//odB.2ACI/415 Message Board Post: Does anyone have information about Catherine Barrick, born October 28, 1826 in Jackson Twp. Perry Co? The family story says she was born into a large family who could not afford to keep her and she was "farmed out" as an infant. I cannot get a record of her birth or anything about her family and have research Linda (Barrick) Durham's recent book on the Barrick line in Perry to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Also, have Patton ancestors from both counties and interest in that family as well.
I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are more that 4274 prisoners on record from the state of Pennsylvania and more than 1800 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of some 13000 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Don't know how useful this will be, but I've seen the name Aquila in Baltimore County, MD. It appears in my SCOTT line around 1722. A posting on the rootsweb list for Harford County, MD mentions a local Declaration of Independence signed at Bush, Harford County, MD in March of 1775. It includes the signatures of three Aquilas, Aquila HALL, Aquila PACA, and Aquila HALL, Jr. Shari
Good Morning Fellow Listers: Anyone out there searching for the parentage or have the parentage of an Aquilla REED b.1806 in Turkey Valley, Greenwood Twp., Perry Co., PA.? I believe - if memory serves me correctly - that Aquilla was married to a daughter of a John HOLMAN in Liverpool, Perry Co.. In 1810, there was an Aquilla BURCHFIELD, Jr. listed in the Census Index for Greenwood Twp., Mifflin Co. [now Juniata Co.]. With such an unusual name, we were thinking that there may be a connection????? Aquilla BURCHFIELD is found in the 1800 Census in Mifflin Co. with children but no wife or female of childbearing age. There have been 2 different persons over the past several years who have visited the Perry Historians Library, Perry Co., PA. in search of this gentleman's lineage. Hope someone will be able to help shed some light on this mystery! Donna HELLER ZINN of Newville, Cumberland Co., PA. Volunteer / Researcher at The Perry Historians

Have you thought about a change in the spelling? My early relatives from Perry Co. spelled their last name Sheaffer, but later on for some reason they spelled it Shaffer. If so, see my reply to "Stone Church..." also on the Perry co. board for directions to the cemetery. I couldn't find any map or layout for that particular cemetery, but it wasn't very large. A local funeral director may be able to help with a layout, as I remember seeing some recent graves there.
