    2. Ancestors of Emanuel Keller I am searching for the ancestors of Emanuel Keller who was born in York Co. February 27, 1823 and died in Perry Co. July 01, 1900. He married Elizabeth Barshinger in 1848. His father may have been Peter Keller and his great-grandfather may have been Anthony Keller, an immigrant from Germany. I also understand that the descendants of Emanuel Keller used to hold a family reunion in Perry Co. Does anyone know if the reunion is still held and who I can contact? Thanks for your help. 1. [PA-Perry] Re: History of Cumberland and Adams Counties - KIRKPATRICK
    2. Donna Heller Zinn
    3. Hi Chuck and Fellow Listers: Here are some other KIRKPATRICKs listed in the Cumberland Co. History: pg.17 Mr. Benjamin CHAMBERS and Mr. George CROGHAN had about an hour before separated from us, and on my meeing them again in Cumberland Co. they reported to me they had been at Sheerman's Creek or Little Juniata [note: Shermans Creek, now Perry Co., PA.] situated about 6 miles over the Blue Mountain, and found there Richard KIRKPATRICK ... [and several others listed], who had settled lands and erected cabins or log houses thereon; and having convicted them of the trespass on thier view, they had bound them in recognizances of the penalty of 100 pounds to appear and answer for their trespasses on the first day of the next county court of Cumberland, to be held at Shippensburg and that the said trespassers had likewise entered into bonds to the proprietaries in five hundred pounds penalty to remove off immediately, with all their servants, cattle and effects, and had delivered possession of their houses to Mr. George STEVENSON for the proprietaries' use; and that Mr. STEVENSON had ordered some of the meanest of those cabins to be set on fire, where the families were not large nor the improvements considerable. pg.107 War of 1812-1815 - title of subject/paragraph "There were other companies" says Dr. WING, "which went to Baltimore from the eastern towns in the county, and from what is now Perry Co.. It is said that these were in the detachment which was sent to lie in ambush by the route on which the British troops were expected to advance on its way to Baltimore. As Gen. ROSS, the commander of these troops, was riding by the spot where they were concealed, it is said that two sharpshooters raised their pieces and were about to fire. Anorder was given them to desist, but before one of them, whose name was KIRKPATRICK, from over the mountains, could understand the order, he fired his gun and the British general fell. The result was that a tremendous volley was fired into the thicket where they were concealed; but confusion was thrown into the plans of the invading party by the loss of their commander and the idea of occupying Baltimore was given up." pg.424 Biographical Sketches from the Borough of Mechanicsburg Andrew RALSTON (s/o David and _____ SCOTT RALSTON) married a Miss _____ KIRKPATRICK. The before mentioned David RALSTON lived near the Big Spring, Cumberland Co. and later in 1806 removed to Westmoreland Co., PA. where he died in 1810 near Greensburg. David was twice married - first to a Miss SCOTT and had Andrew who married a KIRKPATRICK and second to a Miss MCCLINTOCK - both wives died at Big Spring. pg.521 Isabella Jane KIRKPATRICK was married to Hugh BRADY (d.September 1881) and had the following children: Jane Elizabeth; Eleanor Culbertson; Rebecca Shields, Hannah Malvina; Margaret, Samuel Albert, William Alexander, John Kirkpatrick, Cyrus Brady and James Henderson. [note: I presume that the second name listed with the daughters are given middle names and not married names???] In same paragraph: Samuel McCUNE (b.1770 d.November 16, 1813) married Hannah BRADY (b.January 1, 1776 d.May 16, 1847) and had a daughter, Margaret (b.April 9, 1801) who married Moses KIRKPATRICK. Hope this helps as well! Donna Chuck Davidson wrote: > > Hello Donna: Outstanding; most of what you listed is part of my wife's > line. Not sure of P. 394. 2. Indeed! Harry Hall is my grandfather (he still lives across the road from the dairy) and the children you mention are my father, uncles and aunt! The family has been in Racoon Vally for four generations and Perry County for another three, ultimately descended from a Yohanes Haal who died in Apr 1836 and was buried in Loysville. 3. Thanks to all of you, I certanly appreciate the help on my Millerstown question. To the gentleman from Florida who wanted to look up the parents of Mary Ann Miller, I appreciate the effort but that won't work for they also are buried in Bellevue, Lyme Twp Huron Co. John Miller b May 12, 1782 d June 29 1860 and Mary b ov 16, 1788 d 24 Sept 1858. Their daughter Mary Ann married Abraham Leiter in Huron Co. 9 December 1836. His parents John Leiter and Barbara Witmer, who both died in 1828 are buried in Chapman Twp Juniata Co. Pa. One person stated that she thought the founder of Millerstown was a brother of Daniel Miller of Dauphin Co. Is there any proof of that out there. The Miller name is just so common that I haven't gotten anywhere on that line.Linda Leiter Spahr

    3. I came across a marriage I was looking for listed in the "Records of Pastoral Acts at Zion Lutheran Church, Harrisburg, Dauphin Co.,PA 1795-1827". Transcribed by F. Weiser. The marriage was Friedr. FRANCK to Cath. MAYERN, May 23, 1809. There was also a Johann FRANCK m. Elisabeth KUNZ, April 4, 1804. Johann Deitrich Petersen was pastor for both marriages. Also listed in the book are baptisms. They are grouped under headings such as: In Klerck's Valley(Clarke's?), In Harrisburg, In Sheerman's Valley(Sherman's?) Johann and Elisabeth FRANCK have a son Jorck bp. June 2, 1808 lived under Sheerman's Valley so I'm guessing that's where they lived. It seems as though the pastor traveled to these valleys and went over to Perry (then Cumberland) county. So here are records belonging to a church in Harrisburg but members located on both sides of the Susquehanna and quite a distance from Harrisburg. 3. Just to add to the confusion: From "Marriages and Marriage Evidence in Pennsylvania German Churches" Donna Irish and from "Dauphin County, PA, Church Records" Dauphin County, Lykens Valley Lower Church, aks St. David's Reformed, Upper Paxtang Township Heinrich MAYER, married Susanna FROLICH, dau of Johannes, 4 Dec 1825, both of 'Millerstown', (Irish) 'Millersburg' (Dauphin County Church Records) Wit: Georg ETZWEILER, Abraham NEUKOMMER, Henrich FROLICH. The question, of course, is whether they were from Millersburg in Dauphin and got married 'at home' or from Millerstown in Perry and crossed the river to get married. By 1830 they are in Richland County OH, where their daughter Susan married Solomon Fenical of Perry County.

    3. Just to chime in on this subject, I was born and raised in Millersburg, which is just on the other side of the River in Dauphin co. My grandparents used to take me across the ferry in the summer and go thru millerstown to go to our hunting camp. I believe that Millerstown was founded by a brother of Daniel Miller who founded Millersburg. Though I don't know for sure.
