Please write your support for the restoration and upkeep of Harmony Cemetery, Milton. Thanks Ann from Michigan researching in PA: WENNER and DAVIS (who are buried in Harmony). ----------------- Forwarded Message: Subj: Re: Harmony Cemetery Date: 6/28/04 12:03:15 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: KayFromPA@webtv.net To: AGarvin224@aol.com, boozeman@pcspower.net Sent from the Internet (Details) HI Ann and Lou - Yesterday I called the President of the Milton Historical Society and she promised me she would make some phone calls and get back to me. This morning I called the Milton Borough Manager and he explained the cemetery situation to me - it seems that the Association still has 3 trust funds to draw from but with the present stock market conditions the funds are not producing much in the way of spendable money and the cemetery is operating in the red. He told me that at the next Council meeting (July 14) the Council will vote on the town taking over the cemetery and he assured me that all the cemetery records would be transferred to the Borough Building and he is very much interested in transferring the records to computer files and he will be providing a computer and space for people to do this work. He is so interested in the preservation that he offered me the job and said he would pay for meals, over-nights, etc. He said the first order of business would be the firing of "Randy" the person in charge of the cemetery. He also said that all future sales of lots would see the money (all of it) go into the maintance and restoration of the cemetery - he agrees that it is in deplorable condition. I grew up in Milton and my grandfather held the position of Borough Manager for about 10 years so I used a little bit of ancient history on him. I am sure that a letter to him would help when the matter comes up for Council vote - I have already written my letter to him and given him permission to read the letter at the July 14 council meeting and have also enclosed a map that the maintance dept. of Lewisburg Cemetery has prepared for people doing research there. Sorry I so lazy as to send this letter to both of you but you are both interested. The address for your letter is - Mr. Charles Beck Borough Manager Milton Borough Hall Milton, PA 17847 Hope all of this helps. Please keep in touch. Kay
