    1. [PANORTHU-L] HAMERSLY

    3. I am Donna Hamersly Carlson from Minneapolis, Minnesota, born in Humboldt County, Iowa. My Northumberland County ancestry is more supposition than fact, but goes like this: € From PA Archives, Series 5, Vol. l, pp. 85, "Jacob Hamersley was in the service of the Provence of PA in Capt. James Patterson Co., at Fort Augusta on June 25, 1757. (Father, perhaps, of the following....?) € From Pension Application of James Hamersly (Rev War), it states: "On August 26, 1838, James Hamersly, age 72, appeared before the Judge of Pendleton County, KY and swore that he was a private in the Company of Capt. McCoy in the PA Line for 7 months. He stated that he was born on the 14 Nov. 1760 at Fort Augusta, Northumberland Co., PA. He presumes that a brother of his, John, who long since emigrated to Indiana, could swear to his service..... € From Pension Application of John Hamersly (Rev War), he states "That he enlisted in the Army of the United States on the 10th day of March, 1778 at Valley Forge in the State of PA for the term of 3 years, by joining a company under the command of Captain Jacob Humphrey and served in the 6th Regiment of the PA Line, and that this Regiment was commanded by Col. Josiah Harmar, that a (WM) Talbot was major. "That at the time of his enlistment he resided in Northumberland County, State of PA"... There were supposedly five other brothers to James and John: among them Isaac, Andrew, and Abraham and it is thought that they came from Ireland (Scots Irish I presume). Any assistance or clues as to how to find more information regarding this family, as well as the "proof", would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Donna
