    3. I was pleased to discover that the Sunbury Daily Item website (http://www.dailyitem.com/) now displays the full text of obituaries. You can click on the obituaries link on the left side of the screen or go directly to the obituaries at http://www.legacy.com/dailyitem/LegacyHome.asp. The current day's list of names appears on the screen; highlight a name and click on "display", or just double click on the name, to show the full text. You can click on the calendar to see the list for an earlier date. (The first available date is Saturday, 14 February 2004.) You can search the entire obituary database by last name of the deceased--this should be useful a few months or years down the road, assuming that they intend to retain all of the obituaries. There is also a keyword search feature, but it only works on the current day's obituaries, so it's hard to imagine that being of much use. The Shamokin-Mt. Carmel News Item obituaries have been available online for some time now at http://www.zwire.com/site/news.asp?brd=2311. (The link is on the right; you have to scroll down to get to it.) And the Citizen Standard site (http://www.citizenstandard.com/) has online obituaries covering the Mahantango and Hegins Valleys and neighboring regions. Both of these websites have more extensive search capabilities, so you can search for a surname in the text of all the obituaries. I thought some folks might find these links useful. Tim
