Also, I think there was a major flood of the Susquehanna River in the late 1700's and many settlers had to move back inland. Also, Northumberland Co. was BIG on anthracite coal mining. Many of the Welsh arrived in the late 1800's to work the mines. Some of them moved to Philadelphia.
