If you look at the 1920 Census, you'll see Peter Sr. is listed as blind in the occupation field, so the accident would have occurred between 1910 and 1920. I have no information about Steven after the 1910 Census. I would suggest obtaining a copy of Peter's Death Certificate. It should answer the suicide question.
