    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: zulifuz Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.pennsylvania.counties.northumberland/3795.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I Googled (without quotes) for "Kendig's Island in the Susquehanna" and was taken to the on-line version of Penna. Archives, 3rd Series; Harrisburg 1894. Volume III has a major section consisting of "Warrants for Islands In the Susquehanna" (applications 1793-1872). Entries include the locations of hundreds of islands in the Susquehanna River, including a paragraph on Kendig's Island. Unfortunately, the on-line version is in PDF format and is unsearchable with the Windows search tool. I began the task of scrolling down through the entries, looking for Kendig's Island, but I gave up after scrolling for 10 minutes. If you can find a bound volume of this book in the reference section of a public library or in a university library, you should be able to learn the location of Kendig's Island more quickly than working from the Webpage I found on-line. Of course, if you live near Harrisburg the easiest thing to do would be to make a visit to the downtown PA. Archives Building and ! look up the entry in a bound volume. 3. Here is what I copied from the web site mentioned in the previous e-mail, from the on-line version of Penna. Archives, 3rd Series; Harrisburg 1894. Volume III has a major section consisting of "Warrants for Islands In the Susquehanna" (applications 1793-1872). 1 April-Martin Kendig, 4 acres. An Island in the river Susquehanna, nearly opposite the lower end of Cough's Island, on the South East side, about four miles below Sunbury, in Augusta Township, Northumberland County, unimproved, and is susceptible of cultivation. I hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] Sent: Thursday, November 19, 2009 12:34 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [PANORTHU] Where was Kendig's Island This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list.
