He first appears in church records in Berks County under various names as Schette, Schoedi, Schaedi. In tax records of Rockland and Ruscombmanor township, Pa. he is listed as either Conrad or Peter Schedy and Shedy. I believe his family relocated to Northumberland sometime around 1810. This was the origin of the name Shady in America. I have his complete decendancy documented in my ancestry.com tree, recently completed. I have found no records of any immigrants with a similar name. I believe he is a decenant of Henrich Schade, earliest settler of this region, who settled in Maxatawny Township around 1734. There was also a Peter Sr. and Peter Jr. Shidy of Bern Township, Pa. Probably related to Conrad. Some of this family remained in Berks county and others relocated to Butler/Luzerne, Pa. This family originated the Sheidy and Scheidy name in America. Some members of this family did not include the (y) in their name and were buried Schide. And I believe I am decended from them. My grandfather x4 was first called Schide and sometimes Sheidy, but just before he died he changed to Scheidt, and began the origin of this name in America. I believe I have just shared with you virgin information on these families, I have seen no other sources connecting these famlies. I intend to document this on the web at some point when all the pieces are connected. Regards, Neil Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
