    1. [PANORTHU-L] Renting old Sunbury New Papers
    2. John & Jeanie Stout
    3. I rented old Sunbury New Papers on film and up to 1884 there was very little of the news paper in tact. They sent me one small reel with every thing they still had up to 1884. Very little to go on. So maybe between 1884 and 1893 you could find some thing. I would first suggest going to your library and seeing what sort of microfilm machine they have and if its in a dark area and if they have a copy machine hooked up to it so you can copy parts of orbits you want. I had a difficult time of it., I had to hand copy every thing and it was hard to read the Reels. The machine was in a bright room other patrons would not allow me to even turn half the lights off. I turned the machine to the far wall and had a tight place to sit. It was in a hot corner I roasted and sweated doing it. But the Library never charged me postage. They said it was a very low postage rate. I got 9 reels in all. Mostly you get one month of a newspaper on one reel. You have almost a month to read them in. I am going to try a different library my self and rent more this winter. Jeanie Heather, There are no death certs before 1893 in PA. Obits didn't always exist either, but you can rent old newspapers on film via inter-library loan. Go to your local library with this info: www.statelibrary.state.pa.us click on "state library catalog" select "subject heading search" enter "newspapers Pennsylvania Northumberland" You can look at the site before you go to the library and decide what papers you are interested in. I wish you luck. Sue Marcus In a message dated 9/29/03 2:00:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time, sheaa@sunqwest.net writes:
