Searching for information on Philip Peter Houtz and wife, Catherine, who sold 100 acres located about a half mile from Green Briar Creek in 1783 to a John George Pfeifer who owned the adjoining land at that time. According to a copy of an indenture that I have, these lands were obtained from the Proprietaries of Pennsylvania May 5, 1777 by Philip Peter Houtz. In 1783 when this indenture was made, Philip Peter was listed as a resident of Bethal Township in Lancaster County. Are these two family names common to Mahantango Township as found in early records?? Does the Green Briar Creek still exist or is it the same one as the Swabian Creek which runs through this township? Is the Houtz name found in any of the Mahantango Twp. church/cemetery records? This indenture was recorded February 27, 1796....could this mean that is when Philip Peter Houtz died? Marie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
