Hi: Just a short note. You mention Mahantango twp, but I'm not sure why. From the description of the land in question, this would seem ot have been in Mahanoy Township (later it could have been Jackson, Washington or Upper Mahanoy.) If you provide the full deed description I can probably locate this tract on a current tax assessment map so that you can know precisely where this land was. ---Ralph Schwalm > > From: Marie Brasington <madamemab@yahoo.com> > Date: 2004/12/27 Mon PM 09:31:13 EST > To: PANORTHU-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: [PANORTHU-L] HOUTZ/PFEIFER, GREEN BRIAR CREEK, 1783 > > Searching for information on Philip Peter Houtz and > wife, Catherine, who sold 100 acres located about a > half mile from Green Briar Creek in 1783 to a John > George Pfeifer who owned the adjoining land at that > time. > > According to a copy of an indenture that I have, these > lands were obtained from the Proprietaries of > Pennsylvania May 5, 1777 by Philip Peter Houtz.
