I think there may be a CONRAD on this group who does research. Jeanie Off PABERKS-L@rootsweb.com 1784 tax list for Berks Co shows: > Jacob CONRAD, non-resident, Tulpehocken, 50 acres. > > Wills: Jacob Conrad, Bern > Will dated 3/18/1797, proved 9/26/1798. > To Elisabeth dau of son Joseph, articles named. > To son Joseph, 20 pounds. > To son Jacob, 250 pds in trust. Land to be bought for his children = and he to have use of it. > To son Johannes, 400 pds. > To son Christian, 100 pds. > Remainder to Jacob, Johannes and Christian. > Exec: Peter Kerschner and Christian Reyer. > Wits: Conrad Christ and John Bright. > translation > > I have they were in Bern Twp, later.. > > Joseph CONRAD will of 7/18/1821, proved 11/16/1822 > Children: Catharine, Elizabeth, Magdalena, Anna Maria, John and Jacob. > Execs: sons John and Jacob > Wits: John GEIS and Philip FILBERT. > Codicil of 9/13/1822, directs that executors serve without = compensation. Hi Diana and all, I saw what you said about no Conrad in Oley in the = book Oley Valley Heritage and you said it only goes up to 1775. I have Conrad's in my family. My Conrad's are basically from = Ruscombmanor and Rockland Twp. I am still working on them. There are so = many branches I have no info on them. So I've been gathering what info I = can find to try to connect them. Also my Conrad's changed their spelling = from Cronrath to Conrad. There are various variants and I'm told it was = originally something like Grunrate. Looking at my records I have a Jacob = Conrad but no location. Jacob Conrad md Maria Catharina=20 children: 1. Johannes Conrad bn 27 Jan 1747 2. Maria Conrad bn 16 Mar 1749 3. Johann Jacob Conrad bn 18 sep 1751 4. Elisabeth Conrad bn 8 Oct 1755 5. Johann Heinrich Conrad bn 9 Nov 1756 6. Joseph Conrad bn 6 Jan 1759 I have other Conrad's from mostly the Rockland Twp area born in that = time period. Most of it is of my direct line.=20 I also believe that branches of my family moved to the Upper Bern, Upper = Tulpehocken, Bethel and other areas around there in Berks County. My = Conrad, Noll, and Batz surnames do appear up there and I know the widow = on one of my Nolls died in Upper Bern Twp in 1835. I believe the Conrad, = Noll and Batz up there and in Bern are related to the ones that were in = Rockland and Ruscombmanor and yes they did go to Oley (it's right next = door to Rockland). And they went to District and Longswamp and even = Muhlenberg Twp.=20 crystal Dear Diana, Would it be possible to look up Conrads in your book = Oley Valley Heritage, The Colonial Years: 1700-1775 by Philip Pendleton, = 1994? I have found records of my ancester Jacob Conrad living there before 1770 = and wondered who his family might be. Thank you. Pat conrad Crystel, Another researcher has told me that the CONRAD family was originally in New Jersey before Pennsylvania. They are connected with the CUNNARD shipping line.
