I received some beautiful old photo's as a gift from an older Aunt. Shultz and Rockwell pictures. Sunbury Pa area. She had them all identified except one. In another persons writing probably my grandmothers a photo that is a post card photo probably 100 years old? The two children are very dressed up . A small boy is wearing a fancy dress looks like light colored linen and a sash or belt that falls below is waist line in the contrasting color and he is has small white bow tie and the dress has two contrasting colors with many white buttons make it fancy and he wears dark stockings and light colored button up the side shoes. Does any one know what year they stopped wearing stockings and dress's on a walking boy? I have a picture of a small boy a few years old born in the year 1900 and he has on nickers and my grandfather born in the year 1910 and he has nickers on the fashion of the clothing is some what similiar in 1913 ? with many white buttons and bow tie on a boy. On the back of the photo is two names one is Ludlem Rockwell born in 1875. The boy would be under 4 years old in picture. This would be my grandfathers who had an uncle Ludlem . If it is him the picture postcard would be from 1879? Their also is a girl and the picture says Doris and Ludlem but we don't know of any other Doris than the one who sent me the pcitures. The girl is a few years older than the boy an dressed in a simple dark colored knee lenght pleated jumper with a elbow lenght puffy sleeve blouse with no collar and no buttons a little bar pin at her neck , she is wearing a large dark bow in her hair and her hair is finger curled. She has on white stocking and high snug fiting very white shoes like boots that appear flat on the bottom and unsoiled. This Ludlem had no sister by the name of Doris that we know of but a sister two years older Mary ROCKWELL. ODD part of the picture I kept trying to figure out is the children are standing dead center in between a row of flowers. Not infront of the row but in them. One flower is in front of the childrens feet. I was telling My Aunt Doris brother about my pictures. I never mentioned the flower. I did ask him if he remembered any of his great Aunts and Uncles. He told me his Uncle Warren ROCKWEll in Sunbury had a flower that bloomed once a year at night. Warren lived until 1952 my uncle was a kid then. I have two children for Warren C ROCKWELL an Alda and a Thomas. His children were born after 1900. I think the writing on the back of the picture may of been a guess and written Doris and Ludlem ROCKWELL's Picture by my grandma who for got who these kids were and they were for my Aunt Doris maybe and maybe a picture of Ludlem . But she did name my Aunt Janette her olderst daughter after a ROCKWELL/SCHULTZ so maybe she named her second daughter after a Doris ROCKWELL but my Aunt Doris does not know of any other ancestors of that name . Any way interesting puzzle. I will keep searching. I know they are ROCKWELL children because the SHULTZ children lived in poverty and you should see how sad the picture's of three little girls I have form the early 1900 look of some Shultz girls who lived in Ashland than Sunbury. Janette, Edna, Mary who mother was a ROCKWELL but married a SCHULTZ. They all have on black stockings , shoes and just plain cotton wrinkled , soiled dress's. Jeanie
