Peifer John E. Peifer, 85, of RR #1, Box 911, Dalmatia, PA, died Saturday, July 16, 2005 at Susquehanna Lutheran Village, Millersburg, PA. He was born October 22, 1919 in Hunter Station, Northumberland County, PA, son of the late Elias and Emma (Peifer) Peifer. He was a graduate of the former Treverton High School, Class of 1938. He was retired from Conrail, Lebanon, was a member of Zion "Stone Valley" Church, Hickory Corners, PA, and formerly Trinity U.C.C. Church, Palmyra. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific; was a member of the V.F.W. Post 6417 of Palmyra, Alvin E. Long Post 504 of The American Legion of Mandata and the Royal Order of Moose Lodge 410 of Middletown. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy C. (Derk) Peifer; daughters, Sandra, wife of Dean Paul of Dalmatia and Rosemary, wife of Larry Trumble of Newton, KS; 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Zion "Stone Valley" Church, Hickory Corners, PA at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30th. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
