    1. Re: [PANORTHU] DEATH RECORDS FOR NORTHUMBERLAND 1880-1910????!!!
    2. Bill, Here are a couple ideas/leads...hope they are helpful. ---Montour County was not created till 1850. From 1813 to 1850, it was part of Columbia County. So, maybe try searching Columbia Co. sites (look for taxlists, or church records, old newspaper transcriptions, or county histories) that have the Schuyler surname. Or even the surname "Brass"... maybe that was his mother's maiden name. -- On "www.familysearch.org" I found a William in the 1850 census, who was born in 1832. Could it be your guy? name: William Schuyler residence: Lewis, Northumberland, Pennsylvania age: 18 years calculated birth year: 1832 birthplace: Pennsylvania film number: 444772 digital gs number: 4205108 image number: 00086 line number: 3 dwelling house number: 232 family number: 232 Household John Schuyler M 43y Sophia Schuyler F 40y Elizabeth Schuyler F 20y William Schuyler M 18y Thomas Schuyler M 16y Sarah Schuyler F 14y John Schuyler M 12y Jackson Schuyler M 6y Adam Schuyler M 4y Lewis Schuyler M 1y William Butler M 20y William Meidel M 21y Jackson Mckee M 19y In 1860, there is a "William Schuyler" age 23 (birth estimated 1837), born in PA, living in Moreland Twp, Lycoming Co. The age is a little off, but Moreland Twp is right on the border of Montour/Columbia Counties so it's a possibility. Sorry I can't give you more details on the "1860 William" but I don't subscribe to "footnote.com" so can't see the image. This is a long shot, but you might also try searching online for transcriptions of the Muncy Luminary newspaper. The Luminary reported the marriage of one of my ancestors back in 1864... and that ancestor didn't live in Muncy, but several townships away. So maybe you'll find an 1864 death notice for your William. If he was a doctor he was probably well-known. The Lyco Co. Gen Soc. has a "Taber Notebook" with xeroxes of many clippings from the Luminary, as well as other sources. If I recall, they are arranged alphabetically by surname. It was in the Taber notebook that I found my 1864 marriage info. Maybe someone at the Society can help you with a lookup, if you are not able to visit there. One final thought: could your William have served in the Civil War? Many men enlisted in 1861, for 3 years' service. So he still could have been "back home in Turbotville" in 1864. It may be worth searching civil war records, if you haven't already done so. In particular, I have a real mystery in my ancestry in that my GGGF died in 1864 at age 32. He was a physician and lived only 32 years. He was born in Montour county, but lived in Turbotville at the time of his death. Can't seem to find out anything about his life or death. Any creative ideas? His name was William Brass Schuyler (1832-1864). Thanks for any help or leads. Bill Rishel wdrishel@suddenlinkmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
