I recently finished and submitted the "W's" and I'm sure they'll be posted in the near future. Enjoy!!!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/an/DcB.2ACE/3323.1.2.1 Message Board Post: I've done lot of research on my wife's Smalec/Smallets line back to Florynka in the 1700s. Her grandfather was Seman Smalec, born August 2, 1874. He was known as Simeon Smalec after he immigrated in 1899 to Shamokin. He first lived with his brother Walter in 1900, then married Catherine Worhacz in 1903. After that the name was spelled various ways (Smolits, Smaletz, Smallets). Walter (Vasil) and Seman had a brother, Theodore, who immigrated in 1908. Many families from Florynka came through Cohoes New York where they lived in a boarding house and worked in the textile mills or foundries. I'd like to know your Smalec background. I'm certain the families are related. Meanwhile, I've attched some photos of Florynka taken when my eife visited in 2000.

    1. Re: [PANORTHU-L] Heilman/Hopfer marriage announcement in Northumberland Republicaner
    2. Timothy Shipe
    3. The Northumberland Republicaner is available in the large microform set "Early American Newspapers" published by Readex. Many large university libraries have copies of this set. Unfortunately, the set was originally issued in the now-outmoded microcard format, and many libraries have it only in this form, not in microfilm. The problem is that most libraries do not have equipment to make copies from microcards. Your best bet is to visit your local library to find out what nearby libraries have copies of "Early American Newspapers." Ask your local reference librarian what would be the best way for you to obtain the relevant copy of the "Republicaner." In any case, be aware that this newspaper is in German, and that the original notices probably don't have much more information than was abstracted in the "Marriage and Death Notices" that were published in the proceedings of the Northumberland County Historical Society a few years ago--I assume this is where you found the information. Good luck Tim At 04:14 AM 8/24/2003 -0600, bsrs1@epix.net wrote: >This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > >Surnames: Hopfer >Classification: Query > >Message Board URL: > >http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DcB.2ACE/3836 > >Message Board Post: > >On September 5, 1812, Elizabeth Hopfer and Peter Heilman were married >according to the Northumberland Republicaner. > >I would like to obtain a copy of the article but wasn't sure where to go >first. > >Any advice would be appreciated. > >Ronalee > > >==== PANORTHU Mailing List ==== >Please visit and make suggestions to enhance the Northumberland County, PA >GenWeb site located at http://www.rootsweb.com/~panorthu/

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/DcB.2ACE/3839 Message Board Post: During the 1930s through the 60s, eighteen to twenty-three children were born to one couple. We have reunited with the firstsix out of seven. Currently looking for the baby, who was William Leiby, age 3 months old, and taken from the Courthouse steps in Sunbury, PA in about 1945 - 46. A family member said that he was adopted into a family that lived in Centralia. Also, later in the 50s, there were five children given to the minister of a church in Mt. Carmel or nearby. We know of two of those children, but two boys and a girl are still unknown to us. Possibly a United Brethren Church. If anyone has any information for us, we would be ever so grateful. We are searching for the remaining family. Thank you very much.
