Please can some one tell me if I want to search older records in Northumberland county were do I go ? I know Sunbury Court house has newer records. Is there a court house like Sunbury who holds the older records? Looking for Shamokin and Sunbury area records. Thank you Jeanie
I am looking for parents for a Samuel Young who said in his Rev War pension application that he was born in Cumberland co in 1762 and moved to Northumberland co where he served in the militia under a Capt Samuel Young. History tells that Capt Young had brothers James and John. I suspect that my Samuel was the son of one of these three men since he was quite young when he served in the militia. Thanks J. Since it can help narrow down which cemetery to look at, I'll just add that the site of the Sunbury Cemetery was established when the town was laid out in 1772, and Pomfret Manor Cemetery was not established until the 1870's.

He told me 10 years ago that plans were being made to make the burials more accessable. Still nothing has been done. We either have to find a way to get his cooperation. Or go above his head to the International Order of Odd Fellows, and pressure them into getting Gene on the ball. I have volunteered to assist in this documentation. Mr. Faust is just dragging feet......any suggestions????

And you are right that Sarah Ann was born in England. This is what I have for Sarah Ann born on May 26, 1866 in St. Agnes Parish, Cornwall, England. I found Sarah Ann Rogers listed in the 1871 British Census with her grandparents, Jonathan Daddow & Jane (Houghton or Hotton) Daddow. I also found her parents Leonard Rogers & Sarah Ann (Daddow) in the 1871 British census with their other 2 children. I have Sarah Ann is the oldest of 7 children born to Leonard & Sarah Ann (Daddow) Rogers.I would love to see what we can share with each other and see what brick walls we can bring down.

My ancestor were Ebenezer and Hannah Green and the first public record found so far for them is the Original membership papers of the Pioneer Baptist Church at Warwick, New York. I believe they may have lived just over the near border in New Jersey. The members of the Warwick Church asked the pastor of the Stratfield, CT church to come to minister to them. Many members went into Wyoming Valley and were chased away during the Wyoming Massacre in 1778. But I do not think Ebenezer Green was with that group. The first we see in the next record is in Jan 1776 when he joined the first Military group in the area of Muncy, PA when the War broke out. I think his family came there to Northumberland Conty in the summer or fall of 1775. I think there is a good chance your James Green may be somehow related to my Ebenezer.

Hello List, Anyone familiar with Robert KEARNS, a Revolutionary War Sgt? He is mentioned in Bell's History of Northumberland and also there is a Sgt. CAIRNS/CARNS who I believe is the same person, just different spelling, mentioned in the PA Archives as a Ranger in the Northumberland Militia. He owned property and a distillery with a John McGowen/Gowan (also a member of the militia) in the Chillisquaque area until 1797. Robert KEARNS/CAIRNS/CARNS is not listed in the DAR Index. I would really like to connect him to Peter KEARNS/KERN/CARNS/CARNIS etc. of Bloom Township, Northumberland, 1800 census. I have extensive information on him. Thanks! Alice Kern
