Are you looking for Faust Swinko? wife Eve. sons Mike15, and John16. daus. Mary12 and Annie8? They are listed in the 1910 census in marion hts borough, north umberland Co. Faust arrived in Usa in 1884 Eve arrived about 1902. It was his second marriage, her first. They had been married for 6 years, so the kids are probably not hers.In 1910, Faust was 43, Eve was 34. I don't have roll# or page, but can find it for you, if needed. Also, Mike was once injured, broke his leg, in a "mine" accident. He fell from the beam in the breaker, Aug, 07/1908. Natalie was the name of the mine, he is listed as age 15, Polish, and his job was as a slatepicker. If you punch in "Swinko" into your search engine, the mine accident should come up. That's all I have. Hope it helps. I have Swinko's from PA also, but I don't know if they are connected, to yours. You can e-mail me. God Bless.
Does anyone have a copy of the MORGAN Family Book and would be willing to do a look-up in it? Thanks, Sue Marcus

How would I go about tracing a death and/or burial record for the following individual: Jacob Sheets (Sheetz) b. ca 1825 PA d. before 1880 In the 1860 census Jacob and family are listed in Seliinsgrove, Snyder County, where he is an "Innkeeper." In the 1870 census the family is listed as living in Sunbury, Northumberland County; his occupation is "Hotelkeeper." In 1880 his wife, Sarah A. (Weidenhammer) Sheets is listed as a widow, living in Chapman, Snyder County. I have a note that he may be buried in McKee Half Falls, which I believe is in Snyder County. Having trouble tracing Jacob's personal information, as well as ancestors. Any help would be appreciated. Will need addresses to write to, as I live in California. Thanks, Vicki

Hi Marti, In case no one else answers there are now one copier in the basement as well as the ones on the main floor, if I remember correctly. I have used a digital camera, and get good photos, my problem is that I am not proficient with the program to download them and manipulte them. I do have friends who do it on a routine basis with much success. Patricia Snyder Shadancer@aol.co,

Yes, the copier is in the basement among the old land deeds and such. They have a cart for you to use if you are carrying heavy books. I was just there in July. I haven't tried to get copies any other way myself. Never thought of a digital camera. Valerie in NJ
Marti, If you go to the court house with a digital camera, you should check beforehand to make sure the guards will allow you in with it. Last time I went there was a criminal trial and the guard was forbidding any cameras. Best of luck. -Paul

It's not in alphabetically order, it is in order by lot #'s and who is buried in that plot. The records themselves aren't complete. Like lot A36 has 2 unknown 2 babies and 1 vacant. (That is exactly how it is written on the records) If you give me names, I'll check my lists and tell you if they are listed and where to find them. (in a general area and who is all buried by them)

I rented old Sunbury New Papers on film and up to 1884 there was very little of the news paper in tact. They sent me one small reel with every thing they still had up to 1884. Very little to go on. So maybe between 1884 and 1893 you could find some thing. I would first suggest going to your library and seeing what sort of microfilm machine they have and if its in a dark area and if they have a copy machine hooked up to it so you can copy parts of orbits you want. I had a difficult time of it., I had to hand copy every thing and it was hard to read the Reels. The machine was in a bright room other patrons would not allow me to even turn half the lights off. I turned the machine to the far wall and had a tight place to sit. It was in a hot corner I roasted and sweated doing it. But the Library never charged me postage. They said it was a very low postage rate. I got 9 reels in all. Mostly you get one month of a newspaper on one reel. You have almost a month to read them in. I am going to try a different library my self and rent more this winter. Jeanie Heather, There are no death certs before 1893 in PA. Obits didn't always exist either, but you can rent old newspapers on film via inter-library loan. Go to your local library with this info: www.statelibrary.state.pa.us click on "state library catalog" select "subject heading search" enter "newspapers Pennsylvania Northumberland" You can look at the site before you go to the library and decide what papers you are interested in. I wish you luck. Sue Marcus In a message dated 9/29/03 2:00:27 PM Eastern Daylight Time, sheaa@sunqwest.net writes:
Marion Heights and Mount Carmel are both boroughs (small municipalities independent of the jurisdiction of any township).
