I don't have a Farber but do have a Garver Also Mom mentioned Brossie, Brossius? Stone and Rice were mentioned too. I am trying to trace my Shaffer line too. I think you had Workman too, I could be confused by now, but I have only found one in my line and trying to see if that might be another spelling of my family line, I can't find on that side further back than my GG-Grandfather and think the name had to have been changed.
I am getting ready to send away for my great grandparents death certificates They both died after 1909 in Northumberland County (a requirement to get copis) but I do not have exact death dates, only years. For example I know my great- grandfather died in 1943 but not the day or month. Can I still get the certificates with only the year of death? I have previously sent away for birth certificates from Northumberland County, but not death. I meet all other *requirements* to get copies, just don't know the *exact* date, just years. Should I request my great-grandmothers by maiden name or husband name, or include both? Nisa

WHEARY,WEARY,WARY,WEHRY,WHARY I am sorting out kin folk these are all in the Shamokin Cemetery. If you can match up some of the numbers Block-row-lot you can see who is buried with you. Often the wife and husband will be together they buried at times on top of each other in this cemetery. Or you might see a new baby buried with the mother. I am really shocked at the number of baby's that died and still borns in the early years in Shamokin and as you get down to the 1980's they are all old people. http://www.rootsweb.com/%7Eusgenweb/pa/northumberp/shamokin.htm 1875 Andrew Wary, January 27, Killed by fall of rock, 23-0-0, January 29, B8/R1/L16. Jeanie - I've email you directly a list of NARA film reels that cover the years you request. The films are part of the NARA series M237 (Passenger Lists of Vessels Arriving at New York, NY, 1820--1897). You can order these films directly from NARA (http://www.archives.gov). Good luck. This link is a good start: http://home.att.net/~wee-monster/passengers.html Look under New York 1847-1897. Unfortunately, there are no indexes (or not many) for these years. If you can narrow down to the year and/or month of arrival (read the section under Introduction), you can send for microfilm through the Family History Library and search page by page through the ships' passenger lists for that month or year in NY. That's how I found my great-grandfather's arrival. First, I found when he declared his intent to become a citizen in Tioga Co. PA, and in that declaration he showed that he came through the port of New York in June, 1880. Once I had that, I sent for the film/s. It only took 15 minutes of searching before I found his name! I am looking for my great grandparents, Jacob Hinkle (1878-1943) and Bessie Schreffler (1887-1918). She was born about 1887 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. Jacob was born about 1878 in Northumberland County, PA. Jacob and Bessie married before 1908 and had 5 children William (b about 1908) Dorothy (b about 1909) Married George (unknown last name) and resided in Wilmington, DE all their married life George Jacob- my grandfather (b Dec 8, 1910 d April 2, 1988) Alyce (b about 1916) That is correct spelling, but often mistakenly spelled with an *i* Ruth (Dates unknown) None of the females had children of their own. Jacob, Bessie and two children (William and Dorothy) were found in Northumberland County 1910 census, residing at 233 Market Street. The other children were not yet born. Jacob was listed as a widower in 1920 census. . My grandfather has written his mother's last name two ways.....Shreffler and Schreffler. My grandfathers birth records do have it spelled with a *c*. I am looking for information on Bessie, her parents, and siblings Jacob was a coal miner in Pennsylvania. After Bessie's death, Jacob's children lived with relatives and eventually went to an orphanage ( not known where). Looking for any information on Jacob Hinkle, parents, siblings as well. Thanks Denisa Hinkle

Was that the name of the Mt. Carmel newspaper in 1901? How did you get hold of it? I'd like to find the 1903 Mt. Carmel newspaper photo of my grandfather driving the first automobile in Mt.
