    1. [PANORTHU-L] McCormick/McClain linkage
    2. Arthur Miller
    3. Trying to determine if certain McCormicks and McClains in Pa. are the ones that ended up in Ky./Ohio. I have Wm. McCormick and Charles McClain in Pa. Rifle Co. for Northumberland Co., Pa. in 1776. Wm McCormick shows up in 1790 census with one other male under 16 and one female. In 1790 there was a Charles McClean listed in Manellen Twp., Fayette Co., Pa. Wm. McCormick was listed on 1785 tax list in Franklin Twp., Fayette Co.(this is not the son of Dr. John I. McCormick of Frederick Co., Va.--this Wm. was listed in Bullskin Twp.). My William McCormick b. c1755 in Va. md. Maria Cary Eggleston moved to Pa. where son John E. was born 1788. About 1790 they migrated to Ky. showing up in Woodford Co., Ky. in 1790 along with a Hugh McCormick---who was from Northumberland Co., Pa. and maybe was Wm.'s brother. Wm. and Maria were killied by Indians c1792 and John E. was raised by Wm.'s brother (s) before his showing up in Bracken Co., Ky. in 1808. In 1809 John E. purchased a lot in Augusta, Bracken Co., Ky. from Charles and Margaret McClean of Clermont Co., Ohio. In 1815 John McClain md. Jane McCormick in Bracken Co., Ky. with bond by John E. McCormick (Jane probably his sister). Can anyone tell me if the Charles McClain (s) noted in Pa. are the same as the one noted in Clermont Co., Ohio? Or any further insight into the McCormick/McClain linkage. Thanks. Art Miller, Louisville
