    3. Arthur, I don't see a reference to a "Wm. C. McCormick" on page 941, however, there is a Wm C. McConnell which I've listed below. WILLIAM C. McCONNELL, of the firm of McWilliams & McConnell, was born in Halifax, Dauphin county, Pennsylvania, April 4, 1860, son of George Washington and Sarah (Marsh) McConnell, natives of that county, both of whom are dead. The former was prominently identified with the Northern Central railway, running it to Baltimore, Maryland. Our subject grew to maturity in his native county, and received his primary education at the public schools. In 1877 he entered Franklin and Marshall Academy, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the following year Franklin and Marshall College, and spent two years prosecuting his studies in the latter institution. In 1880 he began the study of law under Wayne Mac Veagh, then attorney general of the United States, in Garfield's cabinet, with whom he remained one year. In the spring of 1881 he came to Shamokin and on the 9th of June in that year, married Ida V., daughter of Nathan F. and Eliza (Samuel) Martz, of Shamokin township. Mrs. McConnell is a native of this county and the mother of two children: William Donald, deceased, and Katharine Martz. On the 1st of January, 1882, Mr. McConnell entered the firm of Kulp, McWilliams & Company, dealers in lumber, brick, and ice. In August, 1886, the firm dissolved partnership, Mr. Kulp continuing the lumber business, and McWilliams & McConnell the ice and brick trade. Mr. McConnell was one of the corporators of the Roaring Creek, Anthracite, and Bear Gap water companies, with which he has since been officially connected, and has been president of the Shamokin Water Company since May, 1886. He is a director in the Edison Electric Illuminating Company, and the Arc Light Company, also in the Sunbury Nail Works. In politics he has always been a stalwart Republican, and has taken a deep and prominent interest in the success of his party. In 1890 he was a delegate to the State convention which placed in nomination George Wallace Delamater for the governorship. He is one of the most liberal contributors towards the campaign expenses of his party, and is always ready to do his full share towards every worthy object. Mr. McConnell and family are attendants of Trinity Lutheran church, and he is one of the trustees of that organization. He is a member of Elysburg Ledge, No. 414, F. & A.M., Shamokin Chapter, No. 264, and Calvary Commandery, No. 37, of Danville. He is a progressive and public-spirited citizen, and is thoroughly in harmony with our nineteenth century civilization. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Arthur Miller" <amiller44@worldnet.att.net> To: <PANORTHU-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 11:06 AM Subject: [PANORTHU-L] McCormick > Seeking help from anyone with access to Herbert Bell's " Bell's History of Northumberland Co., Pa.". Recently I was in Salt Lake City and able to briefly use the LDS Family library. J. Meiser's notes on Northumberland County families is in book form there (you can also borrow it at your local LDS church library on microfiche). He listed my gggrandfather, William J's daughter Ursala C. Gass (10/14/1870 - 4/24/1920) as marrying a William A. Moody (9/5/1867 - 9/19/51) son of Allen and Katie Lewis Moody. Ursala is buried in the Summit Cemetary in Shamokin Twp, Northumberland Co, PA....Meiser has more notes on the Moodys also, but I don't have a copy of that. I am still stuck trying to find the parents of William J's grandfather, William Henry Gass, born about 1795. Have you gotten farther on the Gass line? I have also used Floyd's History of Northumberland County on line to flesh out the family a little, but you have probably already visited there. Please note I have a new em! ail address. If you need any more help, don't hesitate to write...K

    2. Rich Nedinsky
    3. I'm trying to verify the grave market for Peter Nedzinski. He died between 1910 and 1920 and is buried at Holy Cross in MT Carmel. (Sec OLD, Blk 65) He is in a plot with his brother August d4/11/1939 and August wife Anne d1953. They do not have a date of burial for him at the church. I don't know if there is a marker. Can someone check out the cemetery and see if there is a grave marker? Richard Nedinsky richn100@earthlink.net

    2. Richard Berkheiser
    3. Good evening Fellow Listers! My apologies if you see this posted one or more lists. I'm trying to help a friend of mine who just recently got interested in researching his family's history. Been giving him some pointers along the way. We're looking to find BEUTLER family members of the Mennonite Church for chances are good that these could be his relatives. After talking to him tonight at ABF (Adult Bible Fellowship), I'm suspecting that they came through the Port of Philadelphia in the early 1800's or maybe even sooner. There seems to be a tradition of ministers in my friend's family as there is a Peter Beutler that was a Mennonite minister around 1830 in Iowa. My friend is a former President of a Christian college in Mishawaka, IN that's part of the Missionary Church which broke away from the Mennonites in the 1880's. If anyone is researching BEUTLER, please let me know and I'll pass the info to my friend. Also for those of you on the Elkhart list, My friend lost a folder full of important papers at the Elkhart Library sometime back. He would love to have it back. Thanks in advance!
