    1. [PANORTHU-L] Old Photo Story Mystery and flower.
    2. John & Jeanie Stout
    3. I received some beautiful old photo's as a gift from an older Aunt. Shultz and Rockwell pictures. Sunbury Pa area. She had them all identified except one. In another persons writing probably my grandmothers a photo that is a post card photo probably 100 years old? The two children are very dressed up . A small boy is wearing a fancy dress looks like light colored linen and a sash or belt that falls below is waist line in the contrasting color and he is has small white bow tie and the dress has two contrasting colors with many white buttons make it fancy and he wears dark stockings and light colored button up the side shoes. Does any one know what year they stopped wearing stockings and dress's on a walking boy? I have a picture of a small boy a few years old born in the year 1900 and he has on nickers and my grandfather born in the year 1910 and he has nickers on the fashion of the clothing is some what similiar in 1913 ? with many white buttons and bow tie on a boy. On the back of the photo is two names one is Ludlem Rockwell born in 1875. The boy would be under 4 years old in picture. This would be my grandfathers who had an uncle Ludlem . If it is him the picture postcard would be from 1879? Their also is a girl and the picture says Doris and Ludlem but we don't know of any other Doris than the one who sent me the pcitures. The girl is a few years older than the boy an dressed in a simple dark colored knee lenght pleated jumper with a elbow lenght puffy sleeve blouse with no collar and no buttons a little bar pin at her neck , she is wearing a large dark bow in her hair and her hair is finger curled. She has on white stocking and high snug fiting very white shoes like boots that appear flat on the bottom and unsoiled. This Ludlem had no sister by the name of Doris that we know of but a sister two years older Mary ROCKWELL. ODD part of the picture I kept trying to figure out is the children are standing dead center in between a row of flowers. Not infront of the row but in them. One flower is in front of the childrens feet. I was telling My Aunt Doris brother about my pictures. I never mentioned the flower. I did ask him if he remembered any of his great Aunts and Uncles. He told me his Uncle Warren ROCKWEll in Sunbury had a flower that bloomed once a year at night. Warren lived until 1952 my uncle was a kid then. I have two children for Warren C ROCKWELL an Alda and a Thomas. His children were born after 1900. I think the writing on the back of the picture may of been a guess and written Doris and Ludlem ROCKWELL's Picture by my grandma who for got who these kids were and they were for my Aunt Doris maybe and maybe a picture of Ludlem . But she did name my Aunt Janette her olderst daughter after a ROCKWELL/SCHULTZ so maybe she named her second daughter after a Doris ROCKWELL but my Aunt Doris does not know of any other ancestors of that name . Any way interesting puzzle. I will keep searching. I know they are ROCKWELL children because the SHULTZ children lived in poverty and you should see how sad the picture's of three little girls I have form the early 1900 look of some Shultz girls who lived in Ashland than Sunbury. Janette, Edna, Mary who mother was a ROCKWELL but married a SCHULTZ. They all have on black stockings , shoes and just plain cotton wrinkled , soiled dress's. Jeanie

    1. [PANORTHU-L] Bartholomew HAYNES, b. abt 1718 m. Jane (HIGGINS?)
    2. I am trying to prove my lineage to the Emigrant William HAYNES. His grandson was Joseph HAYNES, b. 18 Oct 1683 in Salem, Essex Co., Mass. I believe he married Hannah CLEMSON (d/o James CLEMSON and Katherine WRIGHT), in Chester (Delaware) County, PA before 1718 as their first child Bartholomew HAYNES (my 7th gGrandfather) was born in that year. James CLEMSON was granted land warrants in 1712 in Chester County. Does anyone connect to this family or can anyone on the list tell me where the marriage records for that time would be kept? Thanks for your help. Sue

    3. Dear Sue: I go back to William Haynes B 1730 married Katherine Baker. However, at one time I thought that I was in a different line and received a complete lineage from Patrick McDonald who has done extensive research. May I suggest that you email him at partick@mpz.com.au or patrick@aussiehobbies.com You might just email to both addresses. Patrick is a very nice man and was very willing to email me his line, too bad that I later found out that we weren't cousins. Good luck and would you mind to let me know what you find out? 3. I now know Jonathan MERTZ/MARTZ/MARTS lived in Sunbury or Augusta TWP Nortumberland County after 1800 and he is there in 1810 and 1820. Still alive in 1823 for wedding of daughter. He was born in 1776 . I am hoping some one will have more they could share with me or please help me find. I need his wifes name.I am missing about 5 kids names born from 1800-1820. I have a Barbara and a Susanna. I think he only has one boy probably also named Jonathan I would guess born between 1804 and 1810. I do not know when Jonathan MERTZ he died or were he is buried but I beleive it was in Sunbury area. His occupation was listed as stiller. I have not yet received a census for 1830 to see if he is still alive at that time. If any one could please help me with some of these answers that would be wonderful. Thank you Jeanie

    1. [PANORTHU-L] Adam and/or Susanna HICKER
    2. I am the grgrgreat grandson of Adam and Susanna Hicker. Adam was born in Lehigh which I believe in later years became Lehigh County. He is last known to be in Lehigh County, South Whitehall Twp in the 1840 Lehigh County census. Adam was in the Northhampton Militia as a Corporal in the Revolutionary War.. Then as a Corporal on the frontier against the indians. Later as a private in the War of 1812. All in Northhampton County. Would highly appeciate any information anyone would have on Adam and/or Susanna.. I was stationed in Lewisburg, Union County, Pa. for five years fron 1963 to 1968. Was in Northhampton County several times where I could of done this research and have the library at Bucknell University at my disposal. I did not know, at that time, that my family started in Northhampton County, Pa. Now that I am 75 years old and genealogy is my prime past time and I live in my home state of Washington some 3000 miles away. I could kick my behind for not obtaining the information I now seek.. May God Bless You. Jerry Hicker norskygh@aol.com
