Hi All - Looking for help finding the parents of my GGGGreat Grandfather. I have John Cooper b 7/19/1807 in Northumberland Co son of John Cooper from NJ who is buried (unmarked) in Augustaville. - He married Catherine Snyder b1809 in Augusta Township, Northumberland Co daughter of Casper Snyder I also know that he had siblings Jacob, Israel, Henry, Mary, and a daughter Mr. Barrett. Most of this I have from Floyd's Genealogy and census records but have been unable to find Mrs. Cooper and the NJ origins of the family. I'm relatively new to genealogy so no suggestion is too obvious. It is Throop, PA. The community is just north of Dunmore (Scranton), Lackawanna County, which is why you are having a difficult time in locating. Try this link: http://www.geocities.com/genealogyinfo/scranton/throop.html Holy Family cemetery is in Throop Pa. Exit 188 from US 81. Holy Family cemetery is located on Route 347 north. Hi Nancy, The person to contact for the Mt. Carmel Cemetery is the Sexton, George Townsend, 230 E. 4th Street, Mt. Carmel, PA 17851 Telephone: 570-339-0611 He is a very nice gentleman; but is sometimes difficult to reach. He is a widower. I don't know about now, but a few years ago when I called him, his daughter answered the phone and gave him the message. The cemetery immediately next to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery is Oak Hill. Mr. Townsend also takes care of that cemetery, although I don't think he gets paid to do it. Hope this helps. I am trying to locate a cemetery called "Holy Families" in a place called Troop, Pennsylvania. The information is from a NC death certificate. The deceased was buried at "Holy Families" cemetery. Burial was in 1996. Does anyone know this location? I think it may be in the Philadelphia or Scranton areas but I am not sure. A web search does not recognize Troop. Any help is appreciated.
