    1. Important Info related to Genealogy
    2. Message from (and please respond to) carrolmick@yahoo.com: Hello Everyone, This is Carrol Mick Volunteer County Host for Iroquois and Ford Counties in Illinois at Illinois Trails. I wanted to pass this on to you as this is very important issue regarding history and family history. Please read this information on the President's plan to eliminate the National Historical Publications & Records Commission. Thanks, Carrol Mick carrolmick@yahoo.com http://www.savearchives.org/ This archival heritage is at risk. The president's proposed budget for FY 2006 eliminates the National Historical Publications & Records Commission (NHPRC), the only grant-making body in the federal government with a focus on archives. The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), NHPRC's parent agency, will also be challenged to meet demands in other important areas. What kinds of projects are at risk? What can you do to help save NHPRC? Submit public testimony from your institution or association to the House Subcommittee that will hold hearings on April 26. See Action Alert and Guidelines for Preparing Public Testimony. FAX letters to members of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees and express your concern about this threat to our nation's archival heritage. See Action Alert and Guidelines for Writing to Congress on this issue. Get details on how to write and whom to contact.

    1. Adams in Northumberland
    2. Help please with the Adams family. My great grandmother was Jane Rebecca Adams born about 1825, probably in Pennsylvania, but one census record has NY as birth place. She married my great grandfather, Jeremiah Pennypacker, probably in Shamokin, Coal Township, on 16 April 1846 and they settled in Trevorton, Zerbe Township where Jeremiah was the first tailor. Jane Rebecca Adams died on 27 January 1867 in Trevorton. Census Records of the Pennypacker Family The 1850 Federal Census for Coal Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, taken in October 1850 includes Celeste and Emily. Page 184 lists the following, all born in Pennsylvania. Pennypacker, Jeremiah, age 26, Tailor Rebecca, age 25, (First wife, Rebecca Adams, my great grandmother) Celeste, age 3 Emily, age 11 months Holmes, Wells R., age 25, Grocer Page, Alexander, age 27, Brickmaker The non-family persons may have been boarders. By 1860, Elizabeth, age eight, Ellen, age six, and George, age three were added to the family. The Post Office was listed as Trevorton. The 1860 Federal Census for Zerbe Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, (2 July 1860), Page 711 lists the following: Pennypacker, Jeremiah, age 39, Tailor, born PA. Jane, age 36, (Jane Rebecca Adams) born NY. Silvester, age 15, born PA (Possible daughter Celeste?) Elizabeth, age 8, born PA. Ellen, age 6, born PA. George, age 3, born PA. The 1850 census has Pennsylvania as birth state for Rebecca Adams, but the 1860 census has Jane Pennypacker born in New York. Emily was listed at age 11 months in the 1850 census, and not listed in the 1860 census or 1870 census. She may have died as a child or may have been missed by the census taker in 1860 and married by 1870. Celeste is listed as age three in the 1850 census, she is not in the 1860 census, and is listed again in the 1870 census as age 22. Could Sylvester be Celeste in the 1860 census? The names sound the same! My grandmother, Mary May Pennypacker was not born until 1863 so is not included with the family. I would appreciate any help in finding the parents of Jane Rebecca Adams. 3. Hi Roger and Bill and All, I will have to see if found anything. My census and genealogy are on the internet. had previously done a lo of research online and at the family History Library but it has been a while. Lucky for us we can have DNA tested now and saved to compare with others. I looked into it and it is that expensive for about ten people could get a group rate. The problem is that people hid the information on out of wedlock babies and adopted children, pretending they didn't exist and denying any relationship. Let me know which records have been searched already and what you may have found. I have searched census for every available year but not every location. I know our SCHUCKS were here in the 1850s, came from BRUCKEN, but each one of JOSEPH SCHUCK's cousins I do not know about yet. love toni http://community.webtv.net/olivemai/OLIVEMAI He insulted me, he hurt me, he defeated me, he robbed me. 1. SCHUCK / SCHROCK
    2. Bill Southam
    3. Hello Toni - Katie M Schuck, born Sep 27, 1888, possibly in Mahanoy City, is my grandmother and wife of my grandfather Southam. Katie's father was {first name unknown} Schuck from Mahanoy City and her mother Maggie Schrock. Mr Schuck & Ms Schrock were not married, i.e. my grandmother was born 'out of wedlock'. Maggie Schrock later married a George Eckroth, and my grandmother lived in Tamaqua with them, sometimes going by the name, Katie Eckroth. There is also some confusion because of the similarity of the surnames Schuck & Schrock. Do you have any info on any SCHUCKs (or even SCHROCKs) that lived in or around Mahanoy City in the late 1800's? thanks Bill --- toni rossi <olivemai@webtv.net> wrote: > hi!
