That issue has bothered us Romberger Family researchers as well. We have chosen to include Mary as Gilbert's daughter based on her obituary. She was married twice, her first marriage to William Henry Shaffer and the second to Daniel Shade. Her obit reads: Mrs Mary A. Shade age 86 widow of Daniel Shade died at home of her daughter Mrs Norman Lesher in Millersburg, Tues morning. Surviving 3 daughters Mrs Lesher of Mbg; Mrs Anna Radle of E'ville R.D.; and Mrs Alice Smeltz of Northumberland. Two sisters, Mrs Wilson Romberger of Harrisburg and Mrs Clara Harner of E'ville. 14 grandchildren and 23 greats. Funeral at Minier Funeral Home in Mbg and buried at St Johns. Gilbert Romberger had two daughters, Lillie, b. 1865 who married Wilson Romberger and Clara b. 1864 who married Edward Harner. Based on that we have included her in Gilbert's family. Her absence in both the 1860 and 1870 census enumerations for Gilbert's family continues to be a point of concern. Lacking any other information we have relied soley on the published obituary. Stephen was one of my mother's (Olga Melnyk, daughter of Semeon and Olga) 9 brothers and sisters. He was one of my favorite uncles, and lived and died in Mt Carmel, PA. He was married to Irene who was my Godmother, and dear person who predeceased Uncle "Stevie." They had about 5 boys....whose names I now don't remember, at age 60. He was short, very sweet, kind, and soft spoken. I saw him in 1979 when he accompanied my father, Peter Krill (husband of Olga Melnyk) to my house when I moved here in July 1979. The last time I saw Uncle Steve was my Mom's 70th birthday party in my home in Lafayette Hill, PA on Feb. 27, 1986. My Mom died within months of cancer on July 2nd, 1986. PLEASE DO LET ME KNOW HOW/IF YOU ARE RELATED TO ME. I have been an attorney since 1976, but after several types of practice, I became mainly stuck in my house with spinal injuries from rear-enders (at red lights) that! started only days before my Mom died on7/2. Uncle Stevie attended her funeral that I managed for my family, although I'm the youngest of 3 children: me, Andrea, then brother, Peter (5 years older), then Kathleen Ann, 9 years older. Per the inscription on the tombstone, Nathaniel was the son of Uriah and Barbara Barber and "left a mourning father with a numerous circle of connections and friends in Scioto County, Ohio to bewail his unexpected death." In the last several days, I have received over 25 (and counting!) death notices... that I do not believe have been requested by anyone on this list. If someone did request them, couldn't they be taken off list and sent directly to them. I appreciate and fully and completely understand that these lists are for the sharing of information, filling in our family trees, and the education of all involved. We all run across something once-and-awhile that we think might be of interest to others even if we are not working that particular family line and post it. But unless these many, many notices have been requested by someone, they become a form of Spam. My intention is not to be rude.... But I believe the continued posting of death notices is unnecessary.
