His parents were Abraham Brosious (1794-1852) and Catherine Bush (1800- died between 1873-1887??)--second husband Peter Hileman, though it seems that she may have resumed the name Brosious after Peter's death. 1. I would love to hear from any other descendants of Abraham and Catherine, who had the following large family: (a) Elias (born 1816, married Harriet Lyons (b) Abraham, Jr. born c. 1820 and married Rebecca Berger (c) Elizabeth, born c. 1821----married??? (d)Martin, born 1822, married Sarah A. Haas (e)Jared, born c. 1828, married Susan Renn (f)Jacob. born c. 1830, not certain if he was a son; married Eliza? (g)Amos, already cited above, my ancestor (h)Mary??? (i)Jeremiah?? not certain if he was a son. (j)Peter Shindel Brosious, born 1835, married Mary Jane Edwards (k) Luther, born c. 1839, married Margaret E. Fischer (l) Gideon, born 1840, married Mary Alice Poff (m)Louisa, born c.1842, married Peter S. Fisher??????? (n)Melanchthon, born c. 1844 (2).Louisa in particular I am curious about, as I am not certain whether ot not she married, but from information I found, there was a Peter S. Fisher(1845-1923) who married a Louisa Brocious about 1862; marriage lasted about 7 years. I have some photos of a woman who resembles Amos and some of the other siblings of whom I have photos, of a woman taken in Indiana , and I have wondered if this is Louisa. Did she re-marry? (3). I have two pictures of the mother of this large family, Catherine Bush Brosious Hileman in which she is wearing a brooch, oval--if that is the right term--at her neck of a man with a thin face and dark hair. I suspect this could be her husband Abraham Brosious. Would love to find someone who can verify the identity and best of all, has a regular-sized picture of him. Any help, suggestions, surmisals, comments, referrals, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. 1. Re: [PANORTHU] PANORTHU Digest, Vol 4, Issue 153
    2. I have been looking for a Lucy Stiver she may have been married to a Garver, or possibly a Glover or something simular. My G-G-G-Grandfather has a letter that mentioned he has a sister name Lucy Garver but the last name spelling was scribbled. She may have been born around Chillisquaque Twp or Union County Hartley Twp. around 1800 but I have not been able to locate the mother and the father was John Stiver who died around 1820. The grandfather left provisions for the 3 boys under age 14 in the Orphans Court records. My 3-G-Grandfather was Jonathon Stiver. I would greatly appreciate any help on finding information on Lucy. Edward was born in 1864 in Tamaqua which is just across the border from Locust Gap. He later lived in both places. Edward's wife & family (w/ my grandfather, Thomas and sister Helen) resided in Locust Gap. He was born in 1898. All of your names are repeated within the family and if you Thomas was a first born male, it was a Catholic trasdition to name the firstborn male after the father....thus, making James, father likely to be Thomas (the same Thomas of Edward). This father Thomas was the son of the original immigrant Laughlin Delaney from Castlecomer, Ireland also anachrite mining town. Would you have known any of my ancestors? My mother was born in the gap - Elizabeth (Bettie) McLaughlin in 1934. Her older sister, Mary, was also born there. Their father, Eugene (Boner) McLaughlin was apparently a rich man when Mary was born but was desitute when my mother came along. He left his family, Lena (Scheuren) McLaughlin, Mary McLaughlin, and Bettie McLaughlin with almost nothing. Lena's parents were Joe Scheuren and Catherine (Kate) (Bosche) Scheuren. Allegedly the colliery whistle was named "Big Joe" because my great grandfather was the only man in town tall enough to pull the handle. It may have also been named "Big Joe" after Joe Beierschmitt - a manager/supervisor in the colliery. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. This pursuit can get complicated, but DNA indicates that my Glovers were from Ireland and came to America in the early part of the 18th c., but probably were Scots-Irish. I would have thought they were Presbyterian at the time, but many later became Methodist. Sometimes religious affiliation is a help. Some reports say the early Glovers might have been Quakers, but I have no indication of that. Also, there's a record that they settled briefly first in Bucks County PA, but then migrated elsewhere. Do you have any proof of either of these thoughts from your research? It's amazing to me how some colonists, even in the same family, moved around so much, but some stayed in the same location. Of course, families tended to be large, and some members had to move on. An important issue: Did your John Richard Glover have sons or nephews who might have remained in Virginia? I'm told that some of the Pennsylvanians who fled to Virginia in the Great Runaway! did remain or migrate farther south. Once I can make this connection, I have a lot of confirmed information for those who remained. By the way, my ggg-grandfather was a Richard Glover (of Scots-Irish descent), who lived in northern Virginia at the end of the 18th c. He may have been born in Pennysylvania or Frederick County VA, and may have married for the first time in the latter. At this point, about the most helpful thing for a male with the last name "Glover" to do is take the familytreedna.com DNA test, which doesn't include any blood, just a swab. It costs something, but in the long run I feel it saves time and money. The male's last name for this test has to be "Glover," however. There was a Richard Glover in your area at Ft. Augusta in the middle of the 18th c. I'm wondering if your John Richard Glover, however, went at times by the name of Richard? I kind of doubt it. Does any of this make sense to you?
