She was born 1872 in Treocky South Wales , which would have made her 17 yrs old, and not 21. Her mother was also named Hannah and she was born in Pembrokeshire, she died in 1875. This is wonderful information. Thank you again Interesting as Hannah's {1872} sister Elizabeth Filer also lied about her age on her marriage cert. The girls father -George was alive and well here in Wales when his daughter's married.Hannah and Elizabeth went out to Shamokin in 1888 to visit their grandparents George & Emma{Harvey} Filer . Yes that would obviously be my grandad's sister. I thought she was older, but obviousley not. All i knew was that Joseph and Hannah lost a little girl. There was an old Chillisquaque Twp. (abbrev. for Township) in Northumberland Co. PA. It was subsequently divided into East Chillisquaque Twp. and West Chillisquaque Twp., as they remain today. I was a resident ten miles south of that area from 1929-1953 and the Gotshall surname was well known where I lived. Yes i see what you mean about it being inconsistant..i've come across this list previousley when someone sent me pictures of headstones in Shamokin cemetry. I was sent one of Elizabeth and her husband Harvey Reese. It didn't belong to me. The Elizabeth Filer1841 in my family was married to John Reese, Her daughter Elizabeth Reese 1863 married Charles Rehrer. Elizabeth Filer 1841 her mother was one of 5 girls.. Margaret E. mrd Evan Daniels Caroline mrd Charles Berry Emily mrd John Childs Fanny mrd William Sparks Their parents were George and Emma Filer. Emma's maiden name was HARVEY and maybe this is were it got confussed. Captain Harvey WAS from Wales, a place called Victoria Monmouthshire. thanks again for taking the trouble to forward your findings. Attached are photocopies from the "Farrow Funeral Home Records" for Filer (pages 267 and 268)and Rehrer (page 752) families. While the Filer entry for Elizabeth lists her husband as Capt. Harvey Reese, the Reese entry read John Reese. It is conflicting information and will have to be checked further, but I suspect that Harvey would be correct. A recopy of page 268, the second part of the Filer listings is necessary as some of the information on the right side of the page was cut off. Until that can be accomplished, you can have what was copied. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
