I had come across the burials on Find A Grave, but most of them weren't detailed at all. I suspected that Sarah and David were husband and wife. She may have been Sarah Klinger, my great grandfather's sister. Funny thing is that in the census records, David Harner is always listed as "Albert". He was never mentioned with so much as an initial with "Albert". He was born around 1861 according to the same records and disappears after 1920. I can't find Sarah after 1920 either. But she must be in a record for 1930 somewhere if she died in 1935. I pinpointed her in the Mt Carmel area from her sister's obituary. Does anyone know who you contact for newspaper archives in the Mt. Carmel area? I'd like to try and locate her obituary if it exists to verify if she was Sarah Klinger or not. Aaron: Don't know for sure, however very doubtful (in my thinking) such a church existed on what was basically the American frontier, especially since the English and their religious thinking weren't too popular in that era. The American Episcopal Church came into being after the revolution, specifically by proclamation in Philadelphia October 1789. Reference, Book of Common Prayer 1928 edition. He first appears in church records in Berks County under various names as Schette, Schoedi, Schaedi. In tax records of Rockland and Ruscombmanor township, Pa. he is listed as either Conrad or Peter Schedy and Shedy. I believe his family relocated to Northumberland sometime around 1810. This was the origin of the name Shady in America. I have his complete decendancy documented in my ancestry.com tree, recently completed. I have found no records of any immigrants with a similar name. I believe he is a decenant of Henrich Schade, earliest settler of this region, who settled in Maxatawny Township around 1734. There was also a Peter Sr. and Peter Jr. Shidy of Bern Township, Pa. Probably related to Conrad. Some of this family remained in Berks county and others relocated to Butler/Luzerne, Pa. This family originated the Sheidy and Scheidy name in America. Some members of this family did not include the (y) in their name and were buried Schide. And I believe I am decended from them. My grandfather x4 was first called Schide and sometimes Sheidy, but just before he died he changed to Scheidt, and began the origin of this name in America. I believe I have just shared with you virgin information on these families, I have seen no other sources connecting these famlies. I intend to document this on the web at some point when all the pieces are connected. Regards, Neil Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The other siblings of John and Sophia Schuyler were: Elizabeth, William Brass Schuyler(my relative), Thomas, Sarah Ann, John, Jackson, Adam, Lewis, Sophia, and Eva. 1850 and 1860 Censes for Lewis township, Northumberland Co., PA are easy to obtain. If you can find any info on Wm Brass Schuyler who became a physician, died at 32 and had one son, Roscoe (who also died at 32)would be most appreciated. I have conflicting stories on Wm's marriage. The Family Bible lists a Mary A. Smith as his wife, married 12/15/1887. I see Mary nowhere else in historical data, but reference to an Elsie Hummel? Hope this is some help. By the way, I grew up in Turbotville, PA. Wm D Rishel Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. John did indeed live in Lock Haven. He owned/operated a hotel (I believe it was called "Fallon House" and I am told it is still standing.) John, who I believe was a medic in the war, died in 1896 and is buried in Dunnstown (sp?) Cemetery in the Lock Haven vicinity. Adam was killed in the Civil War in Nashville and as you stated, is buried in Turbotville. The Schuylers lived along County Line Road. The mansion house was on the Northumberland Co. side of the road and is gone I believe. Adam & John's brother Thomas lived in a beautiful old stone house across the road on the Montour Co. side, which is still standing. This family is pretty well researched and I will be glad to give you some contact info. Fuller Runyan Harrisburg, PA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I know some of all these families, having grown up in Turbotville. My name is Bill Rishel (William Rishel) , Warrior Run class of 71. Derr caught my eye. My GGGrandmother was Rebecca Laura Jacoby Schuyler Derr. Jacoby was her maiden name. She first married William Brass Schuyler, 1/12/1858. He was a doctor, and they had one child, Roscoe Conkling Schuyler, a fellow that I've had a hard time tracking. Died of a morphine overdose at age 32.(?) Rebecca remarried in 1866 to George Washington Derr(b. 4/21/1829). Roscoe grew up with the Derr's as a stepson. Somewhere in the 1880-90's, Roscoe moved away and had 3 daughters, on of them was Lena Schuyler, my Grandmother. Terribly confusing, but if anyone has info on Roscoe Conkling Schuyler, I would sure appreciate ane-mail.
