Finding Catherine MOYER's parents has been a stumbling block from the beginning of my genealogy hunt. Catherine was born in 1799 and died in 1879. She married Jacob LEARN and they migrated to Cattaraugus County, New York in 1823. According to Sally Squire Pettingill's book, "History of Ischua, New York," "Jacob LEARN married Catherine Moyer (MAIER in German) and had nine children, all born in Ischua except the first two who were born in Pennsylvania: Thomas-b. 1819-d.1898, married Rachel SHAFER; Lovina-b. 1822-d. 1891, married Jeremy RAUB......" Since several of my Northampton County families were connected to Hamilton Church (including the LEARN family), is there anyone who could check the church records for Catherine's birth/baptism which would (hopefully) list her parents and sponsors? Of course, her family may not have been connected to that church! Jacob's brother, George LEARN, married Fanny SPRIGGLE (SPRIEGEL). They also moved to Cattaraugus County. Several families from Northampton and Monroe counties migrated to the Ischua, New York area including LEARN, SHAFER, KELLER, RAUB, FLYTE, YOUNG (JUNG), FRANTZ, CONRAD, and MILLER. Any help or clues would be appreciated. I'm posting this to both Northampton and Monroe County boards.
