History of Lehigh Co. Family of Reimer This is a very old family of noble descent, whose progenitor was a knight, Hanz, called the (rhymer) who lived in Lower Saxony, A.D. 1195 ,by his bravery and rare gift of rhyme, beautiful song and ballads, he found great favor with the Roman emperor of the German nation, Frederich Barbarossa. Reimer Family in America Dr. John Christian Reimer was born at Michelbach, Kingdom of Wurtemberg, Germany, April 19, 1786, married Aug. 1, 1814 to Charlotte Muhel, who was born at Ober- Ingelheim near Mainz, May 29, 1783, died Oct, 1816, afterwards living with his grandfather, Frederick Michel, at Ober-Ingelheim. Dr John Christian Reimer emigrated to America in the year 1818. Dr. Reimer studied medicine in his native land. He died 1845 and he is buried in Mount Peace cemetery at Phila by the side of his wife. Their daughter, Wilhelmina married Charles Lieberman of Phila., Caroline married Stephen Smith and Emma married John Haas.
