Hi, I'll take a quick stab at answering this. Northampton County was founded in the early 1750s and then split into several other counties (Monroe, Luzerne, Lehigh, etc.) over the next century. Before it was established, some areas that are now in Northampton County were part of Bucks County. I'm not familiar with Penn Twp (since my family was from Plainfield Twp), but if that area is currently part of Northampton County it should have been part of it then, too. However, it might have had a different name since townships occassionally split apart - usually to grant easier access to polling places for people in more-remote areas. Perhaps someone else can tell you what township it would have be in. In any case, the best thing to do for Revolutionary War ancestors is to look through the Pennsylvania Archives - scores of volumes that contain the state's early records. The Northampton County militia lists are in Series 5, Vol. 8. You can find them at Footnote.com - for free. They're searchable, but be aware that Revolutionary scribes don't seem to have cared much about spelling people's names consistantly. While you're there, it might be a good idea to check the tax records, too. They would help you nail down exactly where your ancestor lived. Good luck.
