His grandfather, Frederick Dager, he saved the life of an American officer who was being pursued by the British by hiding him in a chimney in the house at Marble Hall. Major John Dager, was born at Spring Mill, Montgomery Co. He served in the War of 182, He married Ann Freas, d/o Simon Freas Children; Philip the editor of the Germantown Telegraph; Nicholas a partner in the paper; Charles; Barbara who became the wife of ___ and Henry of Germantown. To Major and Mrs. Dager were born the following children; Margaret, the wife of H.S. Hitner; Susanna, the wife of S. Struper, Mrs. Harriet Zimmerman, Mrs. Eliza Stifer, Mrs. Mary Lismyer, Mrs. Martha Richardon, Sarah, Anna, William, Moulton R., Charles, Nicholas and Albert Charles T. Dager married Margaret Spinger, d/o Joel and Sarah (Lewis) Springer, the former was a native of PA. He went south. Children of Mr. and Mrs. Dager.
