Kurt, Many years ago (before I actually began to research my family), I was given a few notes about my LEARN family written on pieces of paper. On a page listing the children of John LEARN, father of Catharine who m. Henry MILLER and the father of my ancestors, Jacob and George LEARN, is the following notation: "This John LEARN along with his friend Frederick MILLER (Henry's father) were in Capt. Richard Shaw's 8th Co. 5th Battalion (PA)." There is no mention of a source of this information and I have found no proof yet that John LEARN was in this unit in the Revolutionary War. I thought this might be of interest to you and perhaps give you a clue about Frederick. Maybe there are pension papers? Judy Offen Caledonia, NY
