Home Ransacked, Physician Reports -- Dr. J.J.QUINEY, 104 Pennsylvania Ave., reported to Easton police today that his home had been entered and ransacked sometime between Saturday morining and today. The house had been vacant during that time, he told police. Dr. QUINEY was inable to determine if anything was taken, police said. William R. KELLER, 3002 Jones Blvd., Palmer Township, reported to police that a green, 12 foot long rowboat was stolen form the Delaware River at the Easton water works. He told police his boat eas worth $130. Bernard GARRITY, 727 Ferry St., told police that two front hubcaps from his car were stolen sometime betwen 1 and 9 a.m. on Saturday. He said the caps were worth $7 each. ADV -- Dr. R. Phone 3-1631 Restoration Of Wolf Academy -- Judge Clinton Budd PALMER issued a charter today to the Wolf Academy Restoration Society, the purpose of which is to restore the academy, near Bath once attended by Gov. George WOLF, the founder of the public school system in Pennsylvania. The petition for the charter, presented by attorney Elias W. SPENGLER, president of the society, was signed by more than 90 members. The petition lists the society headquarters as SPENGLER'S office at 110 E. Main St., Bath. It spells out the purpose of the organization as "the acquisition, renovation, restoration, furnishinf and maintenance. as a historic site, of the old academy, commonly known as the "Wolf Academy" situated in East Allen Township and the doing of all acts incidental to the perpetuation and memory of the free public school system by Governor George WOLF, and for these purposes to acquire, hold, lease and tranfer--property. SPENGLER said the society will try in the 1959 session of the legis! lature to obtain a state appropriation for acquistion of the property. A bill to provide such funds was passed by the 1957 legislature but was vetoed by Gov. LEADER. The directors, besides SPENGLER, are Alex L. DETTMER, who is treasurer; Arthur S. LAMBERT, John H. SENSENBACH, John R. SPANITZ, Martin A. MARSCHANG, who is secretary; Philip D. BOLLMAN, the Rev. John H. REESE, John SINICS, the Rev. Walter H. KUNTZLEMAN and Herman SIEGFRIED, all of Bath; County Controller Charles H. UNANGST, of Bath R.D.2. and Daniel S. SMITH, 1113 W. North St., Bethlehem. Col. WITHERSPOON To Be Transferred -- Lt. Col. John A. WITHERSPOON, instructor-inspector of the 1st 75mm AAA Battalion of the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center, Freemansburg, has been assigned to a new post. He will assume new duties Friday at Camp LeJeune, N.C. Col. WITHERSPOON has held the Freemansburg post for the last 3 1/2 years. A graduate of the Presbyterian College, S.C., Col. WITHERSPOON joined the Marine Corps in 1940. He received a master's degree in international relations form Lehigh Valley Branch of the Foreign Policy Assn. He and his wife reside at 730 Beverly Ave., Bethlehem. 2 Autos Recovered After Listed Stolen -- The automobiles of two Easton men which had been reported stolen on Saturday were recovered on Saturday, according to police. Police said they recovered a car owned by John KERSCHNER, 527 Northampton St., at about 8 p.m. Saturday behind a factory building on Service street, near North Fourth street. KERSCHNER had reported the car stolen between 1:30 and 3 p.m. from a parking lot at Sixth and Church streets. The car was not damaged, police said. Carl RAUB, 102 S. 4th St., told police he had located hes car at 2:10 p.m. Saturday at Sixth and Walnut streets. (paper cut off here) Pike Boy Listed As 'Fairly Good' After Ordeal -- A 3 year-old Germantown, Pike County, boy was in "fairly good" condition at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, last night after being lost for more than 24 hours in the swamp- infested wilderness surrounding his home. Donald HUGHES, son of Mr. and Mrs. alfred HUGHES, was found at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, approximately one-half mile from his home. The child was seated in dense underbrush when he was discovered by a Greeley man, one of more than 300 volunteers who joined the hunt after Donald was reported missing at 1:30 p.m. Friday. (paper cut off here) Rev. Paul MERKI Resigns From Nazareth Post -- The Rev. Paul MERKI, 318 s, Whitfield St., Nazareth, has announced his resignation as pastor of the Church of the Nazarene, New and North streets, Nazareth. The resignation woll become effective on Aug. 18, The Rev. MERKI will his last sermon on Aug. 17. His successor as yet has not been named. The Rev. Mr. MERKI, who has been pastor of the church since 1955, has accepted a pastorate in Ketchikan, Alaska. The Ketchikan church, established by the Nazarene Church Missions, haas 50 members. The Rev. Mr. MERKI, a native of Lansdale is a graduate of the Ursinus College and the Nazarene (paper cut off here) Boy, 10, Wounded While Examining Heated .22 Shell -- A 10 year-old Stroudsburg boy was injured Saturday when a heated .22 calibur cartridge he was preparing to examine exploded. Charles RINKER, son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond A. RINKER, Phillips street, suffered a puncture wound of the right lower leg and cuts on the right side of the lips and the right jaw. He was treated by Dr. Nina PRICE, East Stroudsburg, and the taken to the Monroe County General Hospital, East Stroudsburg. He was released after further treatment in the hospital dispensary. Mrs. RINKER said Charles and two playmates were playing in a field near the RINKER home after returning from an afternoon of swimming. The boys apparently found some .22 caliber cartridges, placed them in a paper bag and set the bag on fire. When an explosion failed to occur she said one of the boys stepped on the smouldering paper to extinguish it. As Charles stooped to examine the contents of the bag, Mrs. RINKER said a cartridges expl! oded. It is believed that a bullet struck her son just below the right knee, she said. Facial wounds were apparently caused by flying shell fragments.
