Cole/Kohl Heinrich Kohl, ancestor, was born Sept 28, 1732 in the Palatinate Germany, emigrated to the US as a young man, setteling in what is now Allen township, Northampton County He purchased a tract of land along the Indian creek near the Lehigh river. He married Christiana Althaus and had 8 children, Henry, Adam, Peter, John, Mary, Christiana, Susan and Catharine. They were members of the Zion Church near Kreidersville. He died March 2, 1827 John Cole, the youngest son of Heinrich, was born in Allen township, April 12, 1790, he married Barbara "Houser", d/o Christian Houser. They had the following children; Eliza, Henry,Reuben, Charles, John, Peter, Matilda, and Susan. Members of the Zion Church Henry Cole, son of John, he died aged 95, March 13, 1912, and was buried at the Zion Church. Charles Cole, the 3rd son of John, was born in Allen township, he married Sophia Mack and they had children; Samuel, Sarah, Amanda, Marietta, Magdalena, Josiah, Ida, who married Stephan Lett of Allentown, and Frank. Members of the Zion Church. Josiah Cole, the 2nd son of Charles, was born Jan 15, 1859 near Kreidersville in Northampton County. On Dec 24, 1882, married Isabelle C. Acker, d/o Jonaa and Matilda (Dornblaser) Acker of Scnecksville. Children; Helen, Charles F., Walter J., and Raymond. Cole, Edmon A., subject, Thomas Coles and wife moved from NJ to PA, settling around Nescopec in the coal regions, when their son, Amos was a young man (he dropped the s). Amos married Sally Ann Frederic, whose name was anglicized to Ritzy. Children; William, James, Joseph, Sybella, Sarah, Amos, Jr., Norman Madison, and Theodore, who died as an infant. Joseph S. Cole, son of Amos, was born Nov 28, 1833. He married 1st to Matilda Sensenbach, d/o Israel, and they had one daughter, Clara. Mr. Cole married 2nd to Josehpine Sensenbach, sister of his 1st wife. Children; Matilda Ann, Charles E., Edmon A., Fredman P., and Lucy C. Edmon A., born in Allentown, Dec 23, 1885, married in 1897 to Alvena Wertman, d/o David and Flora (Miller) of Lynn township.
