lancaster history barton witman, died aug 4, 1902, of caernarvon twp. william witman, the founder of this family, in caernorvon, was born in bucks co, near plow tavern, and when a young man came to churchtown. he married catharine zell, d/o adam, she became the mother of 9 children, barton, ann married david williams, harwitt, margaret married levi de haven, catharine, susan and ellen, deceased, william and edgar barton witman was born aug 23, 1825, he married sept 6, 1872 to caroline dempster, d/o robert of phila. children robert, unmarried, catharine married george d. witman. mr. witman was a member of the episcopal ch., and mrs. witman was reared a methodit.
