    1. [PANORTHA-L] More Gradwohl
    2. In LeHigh & Northampton Cos., PA, usually German Reformed but sometimes Lutheran; tracking the elusive Gradwohls. I have now found many Gradwohls, and I am trying to put them together properly. My plan is that this will ultimately let me tie "my branch" (John Gradwohl of Easton 1814-1882, m. Mary Ann Grotz 1814-aft 1880) into the tree. Herr Gradwohl immigrates from the Palatine area (Germany or Alsace-Loraine, depending on who has won the most recent war) to the colonies. I have no idea who he married. They have (or are these grandchildren?) at least: 1. Gertrude Gradwohl 1758-1841, m. 1780 at Nazareth to Frederick Schortz (aka Schurtz, brother to Anna Maria) 1755-1835; they had at least 5 children. 2. Theobald Gradwohl 5/11/1763-2/26/1827, m. ~1781 Anna Maria Schortz (aka Schurtz) 1756-1843. Theobald is listed as Dewald in Rev. War enlistment. They have at least 2 children. a.Catherine Gradwohl 1782-1877, m. Daniel Dreisbach 1782-1853; they move to Dry Valley, Northumberland Co. & have at least 8 children. (Thank you to FP Stahl for the 1860 census lookup) b.John Gradwohl 1785-1849, m. Anna Maria Kidd 1797-1885; they had at least 8 children. i. Mary Ann Gradwohl 1816-1887, m. 1834 Easton First Reformed to Jacob Odenwelder 1810-1884, had at least 5 children. ii. David Gradwohl 1817-1884, m. ~1843 to Sabina Odenwelder 1825- ??; had at least 2 children iii. Catherine Gradwohl 1819-1864, m. Amandus Heinly (not positive about his last name) 1810-1880; had at least one daughter. iv. Susan Gradwohl 1821-1848, m. 1843 in N.J. to Aaron William Radley 1817-1868; 4 of Aaron's children appear to be Susan's. v. Elizabeth Gradwohl 1824-1904, m. William Clause 1827-1885 (Thank you to Thera for this info., I will look these folks up in the 1880 census next). vi. Sarah Gradwohl 1826-1878, m. George A. Maurer 1815-1873; one known son, Edmund. vii. Thomas Gradwohl 1827-1879, m. Emma M. Lawall ~1835-aft 1890; one known son, Harry Thomas Gradwohl 1867-1879, died at age 12. In 1880 Emma has nephew William Radley living with her in Butztown. By 1890 she is living on Broad in Bethlehem. viii. Rebecca Gradwohl 1831-1889, she is 2nd wife of Aaron William Radley m. 3/1850; they appear to have had 11 children together. It gets confusing as to which are Susan's and which are Rebecca's. I have not seen a primary source for the children's dobs, and am relying on info. posted to the net. I have not found any evidence that John b. 1814 is the son of John & Anna Maria. But, would he not fit in well before Mary Ann b. 1816? Someday (you have said it too) there needs to be a "roadtrip" to PA to read the primary records. Thanks to all of you for the myriad "bits 'n pieces", referals to online family trees and to Marilyn for the City index "lookups". J.R. Maxwell Delaware Co., OH Where the sun is finally out. ii.
